Wish I could own it, I can't stop wondering how much it will bring. I was talking to my wife about the board and how cool it is while the kids played at the park this weekend.
Seems it should outsell the paul mccartney board. Not that it is a compitition.
I am guessing the MCA Board might get close to $100K or is it going for more?
Wish I could own it, but I have not planned my finances well enough.

I'm right there with you abbott. the news story itself was very uplifting.
I was talking with other fans and guessing anywhere between 5 and 10 grand.

I want that shit so bad. Let's crowdfund an auction bid through the message board and we can all take turns hosting the decks.

I've got a hundred, easy. Could divide the final bid up by days to see how much time everyone gets per year. You can sell your interest in the boards, but not the boards themselves. And no taking them out and doing kickflips in the driveway.

the plan is to auction them as a trio according to someone at the foundation.
the $10,000 estimate was only a guess, so that would triple any estimate. who really knows though. it would be like the Stanley Cup of the Beastie Boys fan world...
no word on the 4th Deck with the Free Tibet design or if they will go in display again before they are auctioned off for the Boards + Bands project.
it kills me that I was at X Games and didn't know that they were on display...

i am sure this is a pie in the sky dream to buy it as a group, but shit I would do it and frame it at a location just so I know I get to see and hold it.
If it does not bring $30K I will be surprised.

I would pay $100 or more just to hold it for a few minutes ;)

Is there a pic of the free Tibet design board? Did I miss it in one of the articles? I wonder why no one has said anything about the display at the X games until now?

check out Jo's post in your thread or go to Tony Hawk Foundation page to see the fourth deck. in the photo, it is underneath the three bodhisattva vow decks.
in green, Yauch signed "Bucky Lasek's Deck and MCA's tryptych Bodhisattva Vow" and seemed to have tagged "The Yak" right in the middle of the Free Tibet design.
that's one I would bid on if it were reasonable.

OK, I did miss that. Very cool. I'm sure as it gets closer more details will be released. I'm pretty excited for whoever becomes the proud owners. It would be nice if say the Hall of Fame gets a hold of one, at least others would have a chance to see it up close.

I like the idea of them being somewhere that any fan who wanted to see them could come view them.
Hmmm...how do we make that happen?

Same idea. Get enough bids from the message board to win one or more decks, then agree on a place that will exhibit the deck(s) through a donation or in some kind of trust on behalf of the message board.
Seriously, it could happen. I have no idea how much these will end up going for, but there's a chance - especially if they're sold seperately - that one of them could be had for under $5000. Would only need 50 commits of $100.
Might be too tough to figure out how to administer the details (if there are enough bids), for example, how and when do you actually put up your bid? How to go about finding and agreeing on a place to keep the deck(s), etc. But it's not impossible. We need someone to go Ms Pac Man on this and make it happen.

you're the lawyer, Johnny C.
it sounds easy on paper, but you can't just have a bunch of pledges, you would have to have an account with the money in place before any "bids" are made. someone gets screwed here-
50 active users to make one agreement ? on this message board?

I don't think it sounds easy, and would take more time than I have, but I also don't think it would be impossible. I agree the possibility of someone getting screwed over for money makes it pretty unlikely to happen. It's a nice idea, though.
