They say one of the original 500 copies can go for over 4 figures.

Interesting background. I have never taken the time to search for this record. Pretty clear this influenced the boys quite a bit. Thanks for posting!

I love the Basquiat connection, artwork, and production credit, if only by name and $$ alone...

the whole track has such a smooth flow to it. the guitar riff, everything...

never knew the BBoys makin with the freak freak connection

also, 6:08 mic control

listening to Jimmy James now.

rock rock on

It was also fascinating to me that Basquiat was in the Debbie Harry Rapture video. Also, that video was the first ever hip hop video on MTV.

You can maybe get away with calling Rapture a rap song...but please don't you dare call it hip hop. That's just wrong.

And you try to run but he's got a gun
And he shoots you dead and he eats your head
And then you're in the man from Mars
You go out at night, eatin' cars
You eat Cadillacs, Lincolns too
Mercuries and Subarus
And you don't stop, you keep on eatin' cars
Then, when there's no more cars
You go out at night and eat up bars

The way the vocals dip in and out of different effects reminds me a lot of NONSTOP DISCO POWERPACK.

Yeah, they've referenced Beat Bop A LOT over the years and it wouldn't suprize me if there's a connection there.

This tune is amazing.
I've listened to it about four times since cj hood posted it.
Holy damn, there's always more to learn.

since this thread is revived....

i was talking to someone yesterday who's close with T La Rock and said that the Beasties specifically Ad Rock contributed to 'It's Yours' with the hand claps and crowd noise. Also, the original 'It's Yours' was guitar heavy...whether Ad Rock played on the original is unclear but it was recorded in Rick's NYU dorm room. T La's life maybe become a movie so it might be revealed then. This person was also at the 'roller rink down in VA' at the infamous Mike D brawl!

adrock mentioned that a few times in interviews, he and dave scilken at the studio and on that record. there was one in which he mentioned it and Mike D. playfully was mad at adrock for not extending the invitation to the studio from what i remember. i cant remember which interviews, maybe the audio commentaries from the remastered stuff???
