This is one of the crazier list I have seen but definitely not all crazy

The Beastie Boys’ future is still uncertain: fellow Beastie Boy Michael “Mike D” Diamond stated in an interview with Rolling Stone in May that the group may disband.

Its not shocking. I knew Horovitz & Mike wouldn't go on without their MAIN.

I would be game to see what crazy shit they could come up together and also honoring Yauch in spirit.

I've thought a lot about it. I would like to hear anything they had all three worked on together, (especially the pre zdar versions of hscp2, the other tracks slated for the second HSC release, and the final sessions with Yauch). I would also be ecstatic to hear anything they put out together in the future. As far as side non-Beastie projects, I will have the same amount of interest as I have had with side projects in the past.

Hopeful doesn’t seem like the right word given the circumstance, but I’m somewhat optimistic about future releases of something. Like the 2009 style in which the original HSC2 tracks were to be released (i.e in your shower) becoming more of a 2012/13 type of thing. One or two tracks – a full Lisa Lisa (hint) – who knows?
I also sorta feel like every main musician involved with them (like ever) will contribute to some sort of new release in some form and it will be released under the name of ‘Beastie Boys’.
Adam and Mike could be on there together doing something crazy they recently cooked up, and maybe a couple more of the unheard HSC tracks re-worked, and stuff from the final sessions lovingly completed and beefed up where necessary. Maybe a few of the leftovers sprinkled throughout, if it sounded cohesive enough.
Sort of having ear-visions of (just weak examples purely for illustration’s sake) unheard HSC tracks. Something cooked up by $M, Bobo and MMM layered over some unused Yauch fuzz bass outtake and an MCA verse with Mike and Adam doing something crazy to it all beat-wise. Mario on the upright with Hurra adlibbing some nonsense to one of the Nov 2011 tracks. AWOL doing traps on an unreleased hardcore track. Straight-up hip-hop tracks, jams, whatever. Something new from the two. All mixed-up like ‘Jay Stay Paid’. Following no rules, because really what's to lose?
Obviously, it’s all just nonsensical, wishful thinking. Missing dude still.

I am optimistic as well. Mike and Adam love to make music and assuming they stay close I can't imagine them not doing something together eventually. I think it would be welcomed from all. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Well it doesn’t hurt to be optimistic. As Mike D said about the ordeal with Adam, it was better for them to believe everything would work out rather than believe the other, because the other is just not fun. The idea of an official breakup is something I hope they don’t do. Just leaving it open I think is comforting… and then at any time they are up for it they can release something.
But if they do it I certainly will not be surprised or shocked.

so when did this:
Can you imagine making music without him?
I can see making music. I don't know about a band format. But Yauch would genuinely want us to try whatever crazy thing we wanted but never got around to.

I've been meaning to go back and read the article again because I don't remember those words being actually spoken in that interview. I haven't read anything that has actually said that Adam or mike have actually said that, out loud at least. I think it's an option that none of us would be too shocked if it did happen. I think this is just another case of writer interpretation. Ive learned not to pay too much attention to.

yeah I guess as a superfan I am somewhat protective of the info. I'm sure others can relate.
I'm just thinking there's no way they make some official statement- "the beastie boys as you know them have disbanded"
I mean, it was obvious to us what happens when the founding member of a three person band passes away.
but there is so much for to look forward to as far as posthumous releases.
if they do, they will do it in a tactful, respectful way, on their own terms, on their own timeline, like they always do.
