If everyone recruits 1 new member to this board, it will be 25% as active as the glory days of 2004. Seriously how many who post here have been members for less than 5 years?

They might feel like glory days, but nobody misses them.

sometimes old members come back, then see how dead this place is and leave again

EDIT: I'm pretty sure I did hang around these boards in 04, but I apparently I didn't join till 06. I guess it did seem more active back then.

there are lots of members on here ;)
its never going to happen now, there are lots of stuff that wasnt about in 2004 that people use more. I only joined in 2005 but although i was never here when it was , by all accounts, pretty mental and a birrova laugh, i've still had a laugh on here and even though its quiet now, there's enough people posting occasionally for me to still to check in regularly.

I think it's important to consider this whole recruitment notion with some reservations and/or parameters...for instance we can't just let anyone join...especially those who wear socks with flip flops, wool cardigans or turtlenecks...that's something we need to be wary of...beacause next thing you know left handed people, the patchouli perfumed and paisley adorned may want onboard...and we all know where that leads to...you know what I mean...don't act like you don't...regard me now, thank me later...

Yes. This.
It's like some vicious Catch-22.

sometimes i read the board and get confused when i can't find the "like" button.
If you're a sucker who worries about age; some of you who joined in your teens are now in your thirties.

The steady decline of this community is sad. For awhile we had us some fun.
This graph sort of tells the story (http://siteanalytics.compete.com/bbs.beastieboys.com/).
I'm hanging around until the door hits my ass.

I don't post anywhere. I left for awhile because I had so much upheaval and didn't really have anything interesting or positive to say. Then I just got super super busy for a long time.
But when something really bad happened (RIP Yauch) and something really wonderful happened (see NYE thread) I came here to commiserate. That's gotta mean something, right?

Sometimes I get confused when I'm looking for old username friends and they are here under new names. I have to read 10 of their posts to figure it out, and by then I'm too exhausted from all of the sleuthing to post anything, so I go read Buzzfeed and all is better.
While it was crazy back in the day, a lot of originals I saw posted in this thread. Random people off of the street wouldn't get it. What other kind of board has a secret santa?

Lots of other boards have secret santas. You are not a special and unique snowflake.

It seems to me that, although unmentioned,it felt like we all passed on secret santa this year due to a state of mourning...

I actually found my secret santa stuff from many moons ago. Beck (is he even around anymore?) sent me an old cigar box with an old 45, The Perks of Being a Wallflower and a great mix CD. I still have his letter, too.
