Not sure if any of you know or care about podcast, but Mix Master Mike is on it as of yesterday. Not sure what he talked about, just now listening and Rogan is rambling on about vitiamans right now.
The more you know.

Don't have one. I got it from iTunes because MMM mentioned it on twitter.
You could google it?
It's ok. They do talk about how he got in the group and how he found out about MCA and they play a couple tracks, but honestly if you don't care about boxing or boxing talk this will be rather boring.

What a boring ass show that was. No one would ask MMM any good questions and when they did some other ass answered for him(mostly).
MMM has new FREE album at his website. Its great. The part where he mixes in Funky boss is sick! The album is called, The Bolt-117.http://mixmastermike.com/#/section=discography

That's pretty fucking weak if that's true. Hurricane coming up with the hook on Sure Shot was a better contribution than anything MMM has done for them. 3 MC's and 1 DJ was dope, but I could do without the obligatory scratch interludes on TT5B.
Edit: For clarification he did improve their live shows but they were pretty fuckin dope live with Hurricane too.

also, considering the fact that he joined the band at the height of their PC/changing lyrics/dont offend anyone era and that he said adrock is who he is closest with, I was surprised he threw out a "nothing against homos" line when talking about dj's and electronic music.

Hurricane's always made it sound like it was a mutual agreement, though. It wasn't like he said, "So, when do we start rehear--" "FUCK YOU HURRICANE! YOU'RE OUT!"

at what time point in the interview do they talk about it?

true, i remember hurricane saying he couldn't hang around and work once every 5 years he had to do his own thing. MMM tends to exaggerate and bend the truth in interviews when he talks about the band. he once said he is the one who comes up with the set lists for the shows.

i kind of liked joe rogan before this, but i thought he kind of treated MMM like a bit of a chump a couple times there, but i maybe he kind of treats everyone like a chump - i dunno.
and he won't shut up about his isolation tank and weed/shrooms/etc.
boxing is cool and everything, but come on.
i skipped around the episode but i couldnt find the part about hurricane.
EDIT: the hurricane part is about a quarter of the way in. some of you think they did hurricane dirty, but it doesnt sound that way to me. they SHOULDA known his birthday though *womp womp (http://www.sadtrombone.com/)*

hurricane just always seemed like he had a bad attitude, plus the only time you hear from him now is when he's being a whiny bitch. mmm has contributed worlds more than hurricane.

He's contributed scratching. That's it really. Not trying to diminish his involvement in the band but in the album making process he's called in to add scratching to records. For live shows they both did a good job.

mixmaster's contributions to their live show is light years ahead of what hurricane did, in regards to skill and participation. you're crazy if you think their live value is in any way similar. also, the only contribution hurricane ever made to an album was a piece of the hook for sure shot, from bed; all the scratches in his era were handled by yauch and horovitz. so mike is not only the better performer but also an actual asset in the studio.
it's a no brainer to me.

look, i think mmm is great but I do think people tend to overrate him with the band and underrate hurricane.
honestly, if there were a poll of fans who remember and have been to shows from the check your head/ill communication era and the hello nasty and beyond era I sincerely think they would say the better shows were from the CYH/IC days. their so-called best "concert" comes from their time with hurricane. Now I admit the boys had a different energy to them in those days, I believe they had mario c. handling audio on tour as well, but I think it also comes back to mmm being overrated a bit and hurricane not being appreciated
people will hate on hurricane simply cuz he expresses an opinion or feelings about the band. he's never come at them in a fucked up manner. but beastie fans can be like nsync and backstreet fans when anything is said about them that isn't complimentary.

When listening to bootlegs I prefer the shows with MMM . The beats he drops keeps it from being boring. Also, it’s like Hip Hop 101, The ‘Sucka Nigga’ beat he dropped in the rockplast bootleg concert made me go out and buy Midnight Marauders, then I went on to buy tribes whole back catalog.
Although, I prefer the set lists from the CYH/IC tours.

I'm pretty sure he never even scratched on a recording. I've heard them credit Rick Rubin, MCA, Ad-Rock and EZ Mike. Run crdits himself for the scratches on Pal Revere, but Ad-Rock says it was all him and Rick Rubin.
Hurra did provide a good telephone hook on Sure Shot.

I didn't see a live show until '98 MMM era so I am partial to the Hello Nasty and beyond eras as you mentioned..
just curious as to what is considered their so called best concert by the fans.
in another thread and in private conversation with some other fans, I put 2004 as their performance peak. I know it is a completely biased and subjective opinion, but I based it on having more material for their setlists, being able to introduce new instrumentals as well as upcoming material from the newer albums, etc...
I also see how much damn energy they brought on stage in the mid 90's/ Hurricane era, but one example of my take on all this is the Dave Chappelle video (filmed december '04 I believe?)
just a completely well oiled machine. ten years after IC was released and almost 20 after LTI and their rapport is beyond comparison. wise beyond their years.
(sidenote, Rogen is a mixed martial arts fighter/commentator and MMM is a good friend of Manny Pacquiao so I guess that explains all the boxing talk)
