I know how easy it is to walk into a public school and it scares me. I have walked into several public schools, because I am there as a volunteer. But I have walked right into, down the halls and in the classroom of at least 3 different schools in my state and it is so easy.

Our public schools should be as secure as our capital. Sure, protect our congressman and our senators, but give our kids the same protection.

I am all for gun control. I think you can secure the schools a lot faster than you can get read of guns.

Our kids should get the same protection as our adult tax paid volunteers, but shit what do I know.

My heart aches for every child in that school and their families. The losses are absolutely tragic, and the trauma the surviving kids have experienced is unimaginable.

It's not "easy" to get into most schools , and no one should be able to just walk into ANY school. Sandy Hook, from what I've read (unless the story has since changed), had its main entrance locked just like most schools do; the shooter shot his way in.

I don't know what the answer is. I know it's not as simple as gun control, and it's not as simple (at least in the short term) as improving mental health services either. A lot of high schools and middle schools have school resource (police) officers on campus. Some of them are armed, depending on the state/city/town/county. Most elementary schools don't have SROs; now I think they all should.

I've seen/heard quite a few people argue that teachers should start carrying guns in schools here in the U.S., like they do in Israel. I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that argument. Are people really visualizing that when they're saying it? Someone like me having a concealed gun on my person while I'm playing CandyLand on a rug with three-year-olds? Wouldn't that create an exponential increase in the risk to student safety, if that were to happen on a daily basis in all schools?! Not to mention the change to the teacher-student relationships if/when kids somehow learn that their teachers are packing.

Ugh. :( Currently, my solutions are to have bulletproof doors at the locked entrances of the schools, have a police officer at every school (possibly armed?!), and have some taser units in schools that all staff members are trained to use.

pray for all innocent victims of gun stupidity and violence

If gun proponents feel their rights should not be impinged upon, they sure as hell better come up with a solution to make sure everyone else rights are riddled with bullet holes.

an asswipe was checked out by police for open carrying an AR-15 in Portland

http://www.pressherald.com/news/Man-with-gun-attracts-attention-on-Back-Cove-trail.html

Portland police said the man was seen walking, with the rifle over his shoulder, from the West End to the Parkside neighborhood before ending up on the Back Cove trail, which is used daily by hundreds of joggers, walkers and cyclists.

Two police officers approached and questioned the man at the corner of Cumberland Avenue and Mellen Street.

He described himself as an activist who was exercising his Second Amendment right to openly carry a firearm.

now how are we supposed to know he won't shoot up a coffee house, school, church, or a bunch of firemen?

I guess wait until he start's shooting...ok

does any of these fools understand the definition of terrorism? because this behavior is surely that

Merry Christmas

wish i had some answer. I mean what could I do to make the world better? How could I change my life and my families to make things better?

I know staying off the BBMB is an easy one, but its a vice I cant quit so deal with it or get me kicked off.

Range Free Chickens? Serve food at the shelter?

I cant fix this shit, but I am willing to do something and really have no clue what to do. I already sold my guns and got my Gibson and my Big Ripper.

Wishing you all the best. Happy Holidays, I know mine have been allot better than I ever deserved.

Its not even about guns really...

Its about the disease of our culture. We worship violence, glorify war, hook kids up to nintendo games where they blow eachothers brains out. We need to address all of the socio-economic factors which lead people into violence.

If we take away the guns, we are taking a pill to cover the symptoms of a much larger disease.

If we take away the guns, we will still have racism, violence against women, war, poverty etc...
