Whoa. That's actually just a straight up cover of Namaste with no credit to the original. It's extremely sketchy that there's no mention on the video page of the fact that this is a re-recording of someone else's song. If it were a sample, that'd be one thing, but no idea why it's presented as Jay Electronica's music. And who is Jason Goldwatch. Time Pieces? I don't get it.

maybe im wrong, but i'd say - given the context - they probably won't mind.

he's a music video director. i don't think someone like that could possibly think they're sneaking one by. its not a cover, its the actual song with some spoken word over it. think "some dumb cop.."

There is a "Rest in Peace MCA" at the bottom of the video's info. But otherwise no indication of what music is playing. And from the comments it seems people think it's Jay's new song.

jason goldwatch is a dope music video director. i think the commercial is a good thing. maybe my post seemed like something shady was going on. also i should not have used sampled. it was edited though; similar style to a friend of mine who edits records. for example, http://www.juno.co.uk/products/al-tone-0001/463568-01/

Yeah, it's a good video. That doesn't mean they shouldn't have actually credited the original song.

In this piece, Goldwatch travels with Jay Electronica on a spiritual journey throughout Nepal.

"Time Pieces" are black and white, Super 8 mm, short films by director/photographer Jason Goldwatch that focus on his personal heroes and cultural icons.

Textured, intimate and shot silent, Goldwatch shoots and also edits the film himself by hand, setting the images to ironic sound beds.

Everything he stood for? Really? Shit, I need to watch it again because I missed that the first time around.

Goddammit, how is this not crystal clear? Anyway, looking forward to Jason Goldwatch's next commercial, "Designer Handbags with Swizz Beatz." RIP Mobb Deep.

an upcoming installment of Time Pieces will feature Ricky Powell feeding squirrels in NYC.

So, what exactly is a “Time Piece?”

A black and white, Super 8 mm, short film series by Jason Goldwatch focusing on his personal heroes and cultural icons. Textured, intimate, and shot silent, Goldwatch shoots and also edits the film himself by hand, setting the images to ironic sound beds.

“Time Pieces” sheds light on the subjects as human beings showing them engaging in activities the general public rarely sees them engaged in. Be it Too-$hort at a Youth Center in Oakland, Jay Electronica’s first trip to Nepal, or Ricky Powell in New York feeding squirrels–the subject matter and location are as much a character in the pieces as the subjects themselves.

this is a filmmaker/photographer/music video director sharing his art. it's about the images, not the music. it's more about the director, not the subject.

Goldwatch=Time Piece. Get It?

but they are giving credit by the fact that they are using a song called NAMASTE in a video chronicling a man's journey through Nepal.

any comments on youtube didn't show confusion about the song, just some fans anticipation for dude's new album.

here's from the mass appeal page

From the slums of Kathmandu, to the top of a monastery at Boudha Stupa, to meeting with the Sadus of Pashupatinath, join Goldwatch and Jay Electronica on a spiritual quest through the magical land of Nepal.

“Second installment. Through Kathmandhu. Shot then developed by hand and cut by hand. The song the footage is set to is called ‘Namaste,’ it was written and composed by MCA after his first trip to Nepal.

I’ll always remember that we almost died in a helicopter when the Himalayan fog rolled up on us, just below base camp on Mount Everest (Sagarmāthā to the locals). We were forced to emergency land, just our translator, helicopter pilot, the DP, myself and Jay in a foggy valley, waiting for the fog bed to clear. We stayed up almost all night and drank Johnny Walker and laughed ‘tll the sun rose. We were so alive and so far away but we truly felt like we were home.”

Around the globe we go, armed with Super8. Second installment of Time Pieces as if you were right there too. Namaste.
