I'm in NYC this week and was wondering if there is any type of monument/make-shift memorial that I can pay my respects to. If anyone has any info. please reply.

There's lots of places.... check out the walking tour threads:

(Looks like the pdfs are gone, but I'm sure JasonP will help you out with those if you DM him).
Personally, I recommend the mural in Brooklyn (I hope it's still there: F train to Ave P, you'll see it from the platform) and State Street basketball court/Palmetto playground, also in Brooklyn (http://brooklynheightsblog.com/archives/41072).

There should be an official monument/memorial. Where's the suggestion box?

Sorry but I am new to posting here and planning a trip into the city and wanted to check out some of the sites from the walking tour. Forgive me for sounding dumb but what is "DM" mean and how do I do that? Is there info somewhere on how to get on the "F" train? Lastly, who is JasonP and how would I get in touch with him? I've read about the murals but I don't know the city too well. This will be only my 5th time and certainly have no idea how their buses and trains run. You sound very knowledgeable. Wish I could have made the trip. Is that something you and JasonP organized? Thank you treasure everywhere for all the info!

hey misscrabtree- allow me to say welcome and share one more thread- that I made for a personal walking/subway/sightseeing tour. I was bummed that I missed MCA Day as well as the walking tour, so I made one for myself for the last time I was in the City.

that being said, you should try exploring NYC's mass transit system if you are visiting multiple times!

the F train (Orange) runs from Queens, through Manhattan, and into Brooklyn. so wherever you are, you are either traveling Uptown to Queens, or Downtown to Brooklyn.
much of the Beastie stuff can be found in Lower Manhattan and is all accesible by foot. the F train has multiple stations for you to embark on a subway adventure.
just ask anyone in the city for quick directions and they will be glad to oblige.
feel free to ask here as well. DM means "Direct Message", or Private Message if you aren't speaking twitter these days. click those threads above and JasonP is the thread starter/organizer.
and I must say he did a damn fine job...

Wow, thanks YougRemmy! We "borrowed" a lot from your walking tour.
If you want a pdf with directions send me your email address through a PM and I will hook you up.
