I havent been the same since Adam has passed. A huge part of my life...not make that a huge chunk of life has been missing since he has passed. I wish I could have done something to help him survive but I learned with cancer, its a slim chance. I cant even listen to music anymore knowing there isnt another new beastie song come out. to me, life is just empty without adam. the few times i spoke to him and met him will leave everlasting memories that I would never replace for anything in this world. miss you, MCA.

It sucks for everyone man. The most important thing for anyone is to enjoy what you DO have, because as we all know, life is fleeting. I loved MCA and it was a huge loss, but I didn't know him personally. Keep him in your heart, but keep those lonely thoughts out of your head.

Cant believe he's gone either... Its hard to even look at this message board now, so many incredible memories, friends, seeing him post here, discussing the new music and to know none of that will happen again.... :(

Yeah it sucks. A man died. A great man. And with him, our favourite band.
Let's see if they do anything else, posthumous, truncated, whatever.
That they absolutely don't have to doesn't need to be said; these days I take as much pleasure in knowing Mike is out and about feeding those in need or Adam is playing comedy gigs as I used to in hearing about a new release.
They've earned it.
Heavy shit. :(

Memories and music dont die, thats what he has left us. I dont think Adam would be too happy if he knew his death had affected you listening to music. I'm not saying you cant be sad about it but this band lasted for loooooong time, longer than anyone thought when they arrived and they have left lots to be proud of and enjoy.

on that note...they should release a record a year (live stuff, unreleased trax, etc). They have it.

Well it’s always going to be a bit of struggle. I’ve heard a lot of people not even in this fandom say it was by far the saddest death they’ve experienced in their life-time.
I try not to discuss it much anymore unless I am discussing something positive he did or what I can do as a fan to keep his message out there. If I focus on that then it keeps the negative/sad thoughts at bay.
But it does really hurt knowing the great music of this legendary group is no more. We’ll have to go through it again with Mike and Adam... but hopefully on that day I am too old myself to remember anything!
Hang in there!!!

Yeah, I mean putting my maniacal fandom aside, it was about as tragic a death as you'll get in the entertainment business, or really any walk of life. A very good man in the prime of his life got cancer and died. That's like, as bad as it gets. If there was one celebrity on the planet who didnt deserve to die of cancer it was Adam Yauch. Just goes to show you, man... Enjoy it while it's here.

yeah, like a family asked "remember when the beasties walked down that road?" and i thought it woud be so awesome if they were at that spot again so i could see them too then seconds later been like wow wait Yauch isnt around anymore :(
just too much to really realize it, still..

real talk Kenny G. but just know that the world is a better place because of Adam Yauch, and he got to meet you in his lifetime.
"Rock history — human history, really — is full of evidence that we’re not here long, that we should get our houses in order and do something of value with our time. The lesson of Yauch’s life was that it is possible to make that happen."

I wish I got to know him more on a personal basis like I have with other in the industry. I know we all feel that we are were close to him by listening to thier lyrics but a huge part of me disappeared. the world just doesnt feel the same without him. the music doesnt feel the same, either. to know that we will never see him again hurts.
like ive said b4, my friends have idolized the beastie boys since we were young teens. MCA was and always will be my idol.
I know I may have hurt any future encounters by coming on here a few years ago and getting upset that my son couldnt get backstage and meet them. I know I did wrong and it hurt me to know the boys were equally mad for I did. but i thought every father would have done the same.
Adam wanted the world to be a better place for everyone. He, along with Mike and Adam tried thier best.
I never expected to see any of the beasties pass before me. I imagined them growing old and gray and still rapping and singing.
I was a victim of the recent hurricane. I had 3 feet of water in my house. I lost almost everything. some things I were able to salvage were my beastie boys posters that I had retained since my teen age years. theyre are under my bed right now, tryin to get them back to normal. they got wet on the bottom (i had them all rolled up in a tube). had I known how bad the flood was going to be I would have saved them. it would have taken me only seconds. my other beastie memorabilia was spared the storm, luckily. Its been a real bad year and I think the worst in my life next to my parents passing away.

You'll be alright, man. 2013 is a new year and great things are going to happen. If anything positive has come out of this year for me, it's that it has caused me to be more reflective and I think people reflect when things are changing for them. It helps keep you focused.
Did you ever get Biz to send you the photo he has with Obama?

Still doesn't seem real. Hits me hard when I hear certain songs. Lots of good memories though.
Hope there's an official memorial type place where we can pay our respects. Although, that can be a touchy subject.

everytime i see a picture of mca and he's smiling, I just keep asking myself "why does our Creator choose to take a man's life away after all the good he has bought to so many and he continued to do so even after his death?"

he called his shot long ago.
'Cause I'm gonna die, gonna die one day
Cause I'm goin' and goin' and goin' this way
Not like a roach or a piece of toast
I'm goin' out first class, ain't goin' out coach
To try and change the world, I will plot and scheme...

I don’t want to think of all of the lines he used about death but as Horovitz said…he wasn’t scared. Bummed about it yes but not scared.
And I don’t know Kenny. I never handled death well with anybody so it’s frustrating to understand why it would happen so soon to somebody like Adam. As we know Adam was a faithful Buddhist and he was taught that death is apart of life.... and it if you accept that then it will be easier to face. It’s great he had that faith because it probably brought him great comfort.
Doesn't make it any easier though!
