What happened to the Hardcore?
Ya, you could say Remote Control or Lee Majors but no, not really?
Thought's on why the Beastie's stopped making or at least including Hardcore songs on their albums post Aglio e Olio???
I want to offer this idea... Maybe it just wasn't that fun to do, since Mike was the only one that got to spit.
I think a hardcore punk song was the only thing missing form HSC!

Maybe Quasar has something to do with that.

I think they just kinda outgrew it, for lack of a better term.
Harcore music seems like a genre built on teenage angst.

Didn't I read somewhere that a quite a few months before Yauch's passing they were in the studio recording for fun. And I remember the article saying it was mostly some hardcore stuff.
Anyone remember that?

Yeah, that was the Rolling Stone thing I thought. Something like 'messing around, mainly hardcore stuff.'
In any case, Aglio e Olio was put out on the basis that they'd be no hardcore on Hello Nasty, and listening to that record, it makes sense. With TT5B it was decided early on that it would be all hip hop. The Mix Up speaks for itself and well, the last record had Lee Majors which, for me, is hardcore all aside from the vocals.

Aglio has more hardcore songs that all the others album since 85...
The mix up doesn't have any hardcore song, but the Ratcage is clearly an "homage" to the genre: the bass line is typicaly hardcore and the title refers to the very first Beastie's label. And the tour was the occasion for them to play some hardcore tracks (no punk during the 04 tour).
