During the new episode tonight, there was a scene where the Jewish rapper character Federline (played by Jamie Kennedy, who is actually a Beastie Boys fan) is taken to the "Hall of Wannabes", dedicated to white rappers who have "stolen" black culture. There's statues of MC Serch, the Beasties (dressed in LTI era clothes) and Vanilla Ice.
I know it's just a silly cartoon show at the end of the day, but damn man. Putting the Beastie Boys on the same level as Vanilla Ice? That's cold, man.

What is the Cleveland show?
Anyway, it don't matter. Any so called Hip Hop head that tries to hate on the Beastie Boys, just tell'em their favorite rappers are Beastie Boy fans. Shuts them right up.
There are a million other things that could be said to point out how obviously detached from Hip Hop reality a person would have to be to try to dis them, but its easier and quicker just to say: Hey your favorite rappers are Beastie Boys fans.

What is the Cleveland show?
It was one of those fox cartoon sitcoms. It was cancelled, I think a few years ago.

Apologies. It hasn't been cancelled. But it would be ok if it was :)

It's just a cartoon by a man that makes fun of everything. I wouldn't be bothered by it.

I smell a petition and a potential march on the studio being organized as we type.

I know exactly what you're thinking. It's as if I'm inside your head.

the cleveland show wasnt canceled. its on its third season. to alot of musicians back in the day, the beasties were considered "jokes" and werent taken very seriously. yes, im pissed that the beasties were there but i would have felt more comfortable if eminem and the white boys were there as well.
the cleveland show is bought to you by the same creater as "the family guy"
Why wasn't Eminem there? I took it was a throw away gag by presumably white writers pandering to a presupposes black perspective to look good, as a lot of the jokes are in the show. Tarantino included in the gag was the most hypocritical coming a black comedy created by three white men.

I never saw the hype with eminem. to me, he was always dr dre's "shadow". dre was mentioned in every song and video, trying to give himself street cred. sure, the beasties did a simalar thing with run dmc but u didnt hear the beasties kissing run dmc's ass like M&M does with dre

Kinda sad that people can't even make harmless comments about a cartoon without snarky remarks from the peanut gallery.
