Anyone know if there are any events, shows, etc. planned for May 4?
I was planning to be in NYC for the 1 year anniversary of Yauch's death and would like to go a show or something.

My Yauch community will be doing something. It's just a meditation thing that Yauch once asked us to do in regards to cancer. :/ You can check it out here. http://www.facebook.com/events/496808747047197/?ref=22
I know the MCA Day thing came up but not sure if that's planned later or what....I’m always looking out for stuff so I’ll be sure to post if I hear anything!

I am planning on being in Brooklyn May 4. Even if there isn't something official going on, I am planning to visit State Street Park and light a candle in Yauch's memory. If others are interested maybe we could meet up and do something to remember and honor him - I am open to suggestions. Maybe at 6:30 pm so we can participate in the meditation moment?

MCA DAY '13 (pic.twitter.com/1ts20nU1m5). This is more or less in my neighborhood. I'll be there. Littlefield looks like a really good place for this, too.

May the 4th be with you.

There's a female tribute band called She's Crafty and they're having a concert/event in Chicago May 4th.
https://m.facebook.com/events/508025619243906/?ref=22
Not sure if the link works...
She’s Crafty, Chicago’s all-female Beastie Boys tribute, is celebrating the life of Adam “MCA” Yauch and all things Beastie to raise money for local charities on Saturday, May 4, at Underground Wonder Bar. (710 N. Clark St., Chicago)
(May 4 is the one-year anniversary of MCA's death)
$5 donation at the door. 9 p.m. doors, 10 p.m. show.
We invite our fellow B-Boys fans to submit their tributes to be included in our “MCA Day” show to raise money for local charities.
Spoken word, essays, videos, art, music — all mediums are welcome, as long as it comes from a place of love and respect.
Performance pieces and videos should be no longer than 10 minutes with minimal tech requirements; art pieces should be an easily-transported size.
Please email submissions to shescraftychi@gmail.com before April 15. Written pieces should be included in the body of the email, rather than as an attachment. Those accepted will be notified by April 22.

I'm thankful it's a Saturday.
I'll be at home spinning all my Beastie Boys vinyl and dancing with my wife and daughter.

I'll be playing a live show on May 4th.
It wasn't planned and I cannot think of a better way to celebrate/connect with my favourite musicians aka the beastie boys and all the people who love music and enjoy fun.
I am sure MCA would have liked me doing my thing.
Every notes, every beat will be yours that night.
We'll be playing Time for living ????

nothing official that I know of, however I'll be paying a visit to G Son studios in the morning and volunteering at a Pablove Foundation event for young photographers with cancer.
last year's event was on MCA DAY as well (May 18th) and this year the timing couldn't be better to honor Yauch and a great cause...

An evening of great music and art to celebrate the life and legacy of Adam Yauch with good people and good vibes. Featuring live performances by What's That Noise and Pollywog Crew. This event is all-ages, open to the public, and FREE, though donations are welcome in any form (monetary or artistic) as we will be striving to raise money and awareness for the fight against cancer.
NOMAD will be creating an exclusive LA MCA DAY 2013 silk screen design, so bring a white shirt to have your very own shirt printed. Also bring a candle to take part in the midnight candlelight vigil. Be sure to arrive early as the evening will kick off at 9:00pm with a special opening ceremony led by MCA's school friend Aura Walker. As a blessing for the event, a tobacco offering will be made to a communal fire on behalf of the quest to cure cancer and striving for world peace. The rest of the evening will be filled with projected videos and images of MCA, as well as awesome live Beastie Boys music while we remember and reflect upon the life of an unparalleled artist and humanitarian.

I will be hitting MCA Day in Brooklyn on the 4th and try to get the meditation in that day too. I will be bringing my man and my youngest son, who will be turning 16 that weekend and he is stoked.
Portlandgirl...I like your idea. Not sure what we are doing at 6:30 that day, but maybe a group could be there to light a candle for Yauch.
