I love Matthieu -M- Chedid with, like, every fiber of my being. I don't "fangirl" over anything else, but this guy...no shame.

The language barrier makes it hard to find other French musicians. My French sucks. I can understand some, but to put on paper/construct sentences/blablabla, no. I like Bumcello, Segal/Atef.. I want obscure. Tumblr helps a little, but this one 50-something lady is a bitch and always tries to throw me off track because my French sucks so bad.

I don't like Gainsbourg, it's soo old, and he is kind of an asshole...I know is he a icon of french culture, but he was a most of the time just a drunk jerk not even able to sing or talk...ok he made some good lyrics and music but I personnaly never was into it...he was known to be provocative and sometime with bad taste like with (at the time) young daughter...suggesting incest (even thought he would never done that at all...)..or burning cash on TV (he was drunk).
It's like Bardot ( with who he slept and made a duet by the way)...she's is now a pure homophobic and racist old lady married to a far right wing man...
Most of these old french icons....are most of the time not respectful people...and became very concervative...Gainsbourg died a long time ago...but I wonder how he would be like now...even musically..

Vanessa is 'meh' for me. I do not particularly care for her voice. I should probably give her more of a chance, but when I heard M&J album, Joe le Taxi, I wanted to rip my ears off. I liked La Seine from A Monster in Paris - it was catchy and fun, but there's the bias because of M's role. The movie sucked, otherwise :p

Joseph Chedid (M's little bro), I've been trying to get some of his stuff (Selim), but it's hard to find. Not really sure if they're in the process of establishing themselves, or what. I do not think they're signed. Joe sounds pretty similar to M - especially the panting :o

Sean Lennon is a try-hard bitch. Just thought I'd throw that in there. I wish he'd go away.

Man, who gives a shit about any of that? Melody Nelson = one of the most perfect albums to ever grace this wretched planet. Also, one of the creepiest.

Joking, but in all seriousness, do you know how many musical legends have been grade A assholes? Doesn't diminish their music, the music stands on its own. Unless we're talking about Chris Brown or something. But in that case, the music sucked to begin with.
