anybody watching this?

growing up with no religion whatsoever, this is incredibly fascinating for me. my first real introduction from anything in the bible. so I have no clue how accurate the portrayal is of it in this series.

my take on it is, it seems like everyone they've mention after moses that they portrayed as important is a complete jerk including jesus. all the dudes after moses were corrupt and full of themselves and they portrayed jesus as just totally arrogant. then there's all the killing and destroying of other cities because god said it belongs to them. what kind of shit is that? why must you fuck with these poor people just going about their business?

the only guy that I can relate to is Pontius pilate. he was just trying to keep two groups of maniacs from destroying the city. all like... c'mon guys, quite the bullshit and get your acts together so I don't have to do my job and kill you so you don't destroy the city.

and all the women seem to be portrayed as either totally useless or whores or both.

so I just don't understand why there's such high regard for these characters portrayed in the bible.

it seems like their god is just making them do all this shit but thet're getting nothing in return. he's just fucking with them. they're not getting anything out of it.

documentaries is what I mostly watch on tv.

the history channel has been pumping out some great documentaries lately. the channel use to be just hitler and jesus. but they've expanded quite a bit the past few years.

im watching. seems accurate.

I have spent most of my Bible study on the book of Romans and Corinthians, after Jesus was killed by the Government, written by Paul. I am looking forward to seeing those parts.

I didn't watch it, we pretty much only watch stuff on Netflix streaming.

I'm probably more Bible-literate than the average person, maybe I'll check it out and see if it's worthwhile.

Also, it goes without saying that I answer Christianity-related questions without any religious agenda to the best of my ability.

why are there so many people that get bummed out/mad when they realize you're not a Christian? they seem to think everyone is just a Christian because that's fairly true in this part of the world and when they realize that you're not it's as if you were lying to them.

every year I get asked about Easter/Christmas. my answer every year is that those two holidays don't mean anything to me. I try to explain it to them that it's probably the same way for them about jewish and muslim holidays as it is for me about any religious holiday. I don't even think about it until other people won't shutup about them.

I hardly know any practicing Christians. Most of my friends were raised catholic, but don't really believe anymore, or go to church only on holidays. Christians usually freak everybody out. But everyone I know is sarcastic and skeptical. My Jewish friends practice holiday traditions I guess, that doesn't bother anyone. Probably because Judaism is cooler than Christianity.

I forgot about Easter this year until I had to make the work schedule. Partied it up around a backyard firepit last night, glad I didn't have to wake up and dress up for church. But I'm sure it's a nice time for some people.

For the past month I DVR’d this every week so that I could watch it later. I finally finished part 1 on Monday. It’s really good. I am surprised it took so long. The last big bible series was the 1970’s TEN COMMANDMENTS wasn’t it?

Anyway, whether you are watching it from a religious perspective or for the history.... it is fascinating. I like how they are showing the stories of Sara, Mosas, Abraham and how they might have been feeling during their struggles and response to what God asked of them etc…
