I somehow stumbled across (not upon) this today, and I am glad I did.
I probably read this when the album was new, but it didn't stick.
Reading it now I appreciate the point of view he's coming from, and the attitude toward rock criticism in general. Pretty cool writing:

I like the review except for any part the writer mentions how "done" he is with writing reviews and about "his movie premiere". He sounds like an ass.

His points about mp3's versus proper albums are spot on though.

There's an old threads in the Press tab about this article and some retractions when it was originally published. It's interesting stuff. The guy who wrote the review is one of the most infamous music reviewers around.
