I'm wondering if Adam And Mike will let us know if its on the cards for a last album, releasing recording sessions from 2009 to 2011 or if HSCPT2 is the last ever release?

To me MCA's passing is like when Kurt Cobain died, there was no more Nirvana then, and there is no more Beastie Boys now. I don't wanna see them on tour with an MCA hologram, i don't wanna hear Pete Nice rapping his lines, i don't wanna hear Darryl Jennifer playing bass with them.
With that being said, i would just like them to release a box set of all the vault material. Mario C has said there is hours & hours of them jamming. Good, bad, or ugly- I wanna hear it. B Boys In The Cut was cut from the last record but to me it was better than any track on that record, so i'd like to hear what else got cut over the years. Check your head jamming, doped up Paul's Boutique demos, rough hard core tracks- i wanna hear it all. They could even put up a create your anthology type thing again on the website, download your own 'best of the vaults' playlist.

To each his or her own. I respect your opinion, but I disagree (although I do agree that I do not want a MCA hologram or someone trying to be him in any way -- I doubt that would ever happen anyway). I think the remaining members should carry on (perhaps with a different name). Tracks from the Beastie Boys' back catalog they want to play live they should play live however they want to. They are too young and talented to give up continuing with what the Beastie Boys started. The great thing about the Beastie Boys was that it was flexible and diverse from the start, that ethos can be continued and should be continued. So below are my top 10 new band names for the remaining crew:
1) Golden microphone
2) Updates
3) B.E.A.S.T.I.E.
4) Two tons dynamite
5) B-S
6) Latches
7) BeaTs
8) Anarchistic states
9) Bros.
10) MAC
Any other new band names?

This is a tough one.
I agree with a lot of what EastCoast says. But there's a part of me that would like Mike and Adam to continue to make music together. At least release all the vault and outtake stuff. Nice box set in memory of Yauch with proceeds going towards some charities.
It's been almost a year but it still feels too soon to really get my head around it.
Definitely no new band names though...that just feels wrong to me.

It is still too soon. And even when it’s not too soon it’s still going to be difficult no matter what your opinion is “of how the band should move on”…
I think they need more time to heal. It’s been nice anyway seeing Mike absorb himself in Rockaway and spending time with his family. He needs that! I’ve been reading his interviews lately in those Rockaway publications and he is still the same funny Mike D talking about branding his own coffee!
Yeah but to answer the original question I am all for those HSC releases!

Its all about whether adam and mike want to put anything out that previously was shelved without being able to consult MCA about it. He seemed like the driving force at times, well , they all did but i just think that putting the unreleased stuff out is not something they would want to do. Even though us lot would gobble it up i think they would be conscious of making sure it was a quality product and maybe they think they cant do that without Yauch's input.
Incidentally, i was looking for a particular interview on th'youtube last night and ended up watching loads of tributes and still feeling something, not sad but it still moved me.

doesn't everyone think that Yauch consulted his bandmates about all this?
in due time we will see something, that is what we all want...
I or no one else am in the position to say how long or when it will be appropriate.
they took their time with the release of everything in the past and I don't see it being any different now.
if indeed Mike and Adam were given the blessing to move on with releases after Yauch's passing, then they will do it in the same way they always did it.
and regarding fan ideas of guest musicians, etc., it is just our way of continuing to cope. we should be able to throw out absurd ideas no matter how unrealistic they are.
it's like fan fiction projects...

I have a different perspective of this -- I see it as one can either wait for someone (Mario C, Mike and Adam, or someone from their record label) to release something old unreleased/new unreleased Beastie Boys recordings.
or
I can actively seek out old unreleased / new unreleased material. I never liked having to wait around for 4-8 years between album releases - so I along with a few others went out and "found" the majority of the live and rare material that circulates today.
In short - if you sit around and wait for something to be handed to you...I fear you are going to be waiting a long time. However, if you reach out to people either in person or online -- you might be surprised with the treasure trove of material that is just waiting to be discovered.

whatever, whenever, and however mike and adam choose to move forward will be the right way. whether they continue to create or don't, whether they choose a new name or keep the old one, whether they share the vault or not. they've never been ones to make rash or tasteless decisions. besides, it's their band, their lives, and their prerogative anyhow. i can't say i've ever been let down by them, so i dont expect such to start now.
edit: well, i suppose the whole LTI era was rash and tasteless (haha), but i think you know what i mean. :o

I just dont know what would have been discussed about what to do with material whilst yauch was alive. If they do decide to put something out then cool but i would respect their decision if they didnt want to. I'm not going to be upset if i dont hear anything from the vault. I still enjoy listening to their stuff so i could be content with that.

Agree. I'd love to have anything, good or bad.
And as sticky as it may be to navigate--when the time is right--I'd love to see some type of live incarnation of the Beastie Boys.
The songs still have life and even though it won't come close to matching the goodness of a Beastie's set with Yauch, it'll still be better than most of the live experiences out there.
The songs, and good memories they invoke, mean too much to just abandon them.
If you get giddy watching Adrock rhyme bars at a variety show, imagine how you'd feel after hearing him rip into the hook of a Beastie Boys song.

I just want Mike & Adam to become a production duo called Triphammer. If they rhyme on their own beats from time to time, cool.
If we never hear anything from Beastie Boys again I'm OK with that. I already have a lifetime of memories to keep me going.

i recall yauch referring to their vault of unreleased material as "the crap factory" at one point. always made me laugh; one man's crap is another's treasure in this case. its funny that at a certain rate of fandom that the "crap" becomes just as stimulating as anything else. at least for me, i feel like the aborted and half-finished joints are the most telling; like a looking glass into their writing/recording process.
p.s. had a dream last night i was at a beastie boys show and Plug 3 aka Maseo from De La Soul was standing in for Yauch. strange indeed. it was a pretty dope set though if i must say.

Look at "This Government Needs a Tune Up". That accidentally leaked. We would have never known about that song if it hadn't been found accidentally. If there are other completed songs like that, I would love to hear them.

I think I'll play the percentages here and say of course there will be more releases.
Think of all the other bands that lost a founding member... it takes a little time (or not with solo Hip-Hop artists) but sooner or later all that shit gets released.
After a while it's like why not put it out... they put out a track of them playing B-Ball and yelling!
It will happen... before you are in the nursing home.

If Adam and Mike continue to make music together just be simple and call it
"Adrock and Mike D"

Makes sense to me. Although the duo could be "King Ad-Rock / Mike D"
The first release could be called "Hornblower" spanning soothing sounds from
the alps and post-punk hardcore.

It wouldn't bother me if they still released music as The Beastie Boys.
I think they should just retire ALL of the songs with Yauch vocals on them. I wouldn't wan't to hear somebody step in and try to rap them in concert. That would be ridiculous.
