That would be cool! Mike said no comment on if there will be a third one which means there might be I guess. I hope so!

I cant remember where I read something that if any of the beasties passed, they didnt want thier fans to gather at certain locations like john lennon and strawberry fields in nyc. but i could be wrong. I think this is a great place for ever fan to gather and express thier sorrow and pain, 24 hours a day, 8 days a week!

Hey I agree. We can always gather on our own if we want. I just thought you meant MCADAY day event…And I meant MIKE Kearney who organized the event. Sorry should have clarified!

I think we should all officially declare Adam Yauch Park a place for the NYC MCA DAY. I mean, most of us here have been true fans for quite some time and I think Mike would be a great organizer for it.

Well Mike (MCA DAY curator) has started sending out invites for MCAYDAY2014.

Who is going? Anybody from here?

I am considering going..... I haven’t been going nor have I listened to the Beastie Boys since MAY 2012 with exception of the b-day video I worked on for Adam. And then I watched some Robert Downey JR. film called The Party and there was nothing but Beastie Boys Check Your Head music. Pretty awesome. Uh yeah anyway... I’ve not listened to HSC since 2012 either.

Very selfish of ME because I know Yauch would want me to celebrate and all of that jazz….

Well if I FINALLY go perhaps I will meet some of y’all. Enough time has passed where I think I’m ready.

Is it going to be in May? I feel like it should be in August. Let's celebrate at the time of his birth, not his death. Just a thought.

Great point.

You know I wish they would do it in August. It would feel so much more positive.

Summer time, more time to plan. I wish they would.

But yeah it's in May.

But yeah it's in May.

It was a wicked cool thing for the time in which it occurred. People were hurting so bad, Horovitz and Kathleen Hanna stepped up in a massive way to reach out to the fans. I would have loved to have been a part of all of that, I really would.

I guess a Beastie Boys pub-crawl thing is nice at any time of the year, but I feel like this grieving period and its commemoration has to pass at some point. Especially since it's grief for a person we didn't know and maybe our right to this grief isn't as prounounced as those who were close to Yauch.

I dunno, the flip of that is - once again - members of the band family did co-sign the event and the togetherness. It's a tricky one. Maybe that is a tribute to Yauch. Because the reason why we're not getting an official tribute out of the group is likely simply down to the fact that it just isn't their style.

Something about dwelling has never sat right with me (beyond just MCA), and such an amount of time has passed since his passing that if I were to try and horn in on some sort of MCA 'event' I'd be third or fourth-wave and it would just feel stupid.

I'm gonna go to NY in November/December I think. Just do my own tour and tribute thing. Karaoke in Brooklyn or somesuch.

In short, it's cool that we have the option to attend these sorts of things.

I get what you say Presentable.

I missed the last two as well. I'm just about ready to do my OE now so I thought about visiting NY on the way to the UK in May. But it might be a scramble to get the visa and travel stuff ready in time now so more likely I'll be travelling June.

I really wanted to go to one of the MCA-Days, as I never had the chance to see them live and felt it was someway to get some kind of in person Beasties experience that my life experience has thus lacked. I still love their music, and listening to it brings back the emotions of being 12 and discovering it for the first time, but quickly after that I start thinking about the massive unfulfilled dream that was to see them live.

If people want to sound in on advice, would it be worth me panicking and scrambling and trying to make MCA Day 2014? Or would it be more wise to let this one pass, visit NY in June when I'm more ready and have my own holiday.

I guess it's a decision I've gotta make, I wish I was there for the '12 or '13 one, perhaps it is time to move on from the NY and Beasties dream. Interesting how much a band can effect your life and life decisions (if you're a music lover/obsessive person such as I).

I did a Beastie Boys day in Virginia when HSCPT2 came out and the last two years I did a MCA Day and combined with some of the Star Wars events. Success!
