Nice. I remember calling him when I first taped the Shake Your Rump video off MTV. I asked if the Beastie Boys were there and he said "Fuck the Beastie Boys" and hung up. He must've been so sick of those calls, poor guy.
And I actually had put together, in that style, tracks that were more like a hybrid between Licensed to Ill and “Wild Thing” that would have been huge for them, but they definitely didn’t want to do that

No kidding. I think I remember reading, maybe in the 33 1/3 book, that they did something amazing with a sample of Engine #9 by Wilson Pickett and decided not to use it because it sounded too commercial.

They were released some years later as the tracks for the Hansen record. Mmm-bop was originally going to be titled "My Dick is a Tree Trunk". True story.
