this or something. The Vimeo account for the
plus membership actually cost me money - not
much , but you get the point. Self-Promoting
is not what I am all about - trust me. Without
any long goodbyes I think what has happened
is my time here on this board has passed. I had
fun here and met some really cool people. But
this is just to much for me , and is not fun
anymore. One thing I must say & I stand by my
words - I never gained anything from my videos ,

People have been persecuted much more for their fandom, even here. Over the course of a few months a while back, beasties#1fan (http://bbs.beastieboys.com/member.php?u=102468) got a virtual ass whoopin' from people here. Why? for just doin' what she wanted... I tried to help, she didn't listen, I tried to calm the situation, nobody listened. She's calmed, everyone has calmed, we all moved on. Really this isn't a big deal.


I've spent a few years doing what I do, and guess what, 99.9% of the time, it's a thankless job. I know people that work 10x as hard as I do promoting the Beastie Boys, and ya' know what, they don't get thanked either. We do it because we can, because we want to, and because we enjoy it. We don't do it for pats on the back. If you personally think you're doing it for the wrong reasons then by all means stop. If not, continue on, people who don't have access to the video footage you have seem to be enjoying it.

I'm not trying to fight with anybody here. The point I was trying to make came across a lot ruder than I intended and I have apologized to Ben. I certainly didn't intend for him to walk away from the boards over this.

Your comment though. You call them "Ben's Videos", they aren't. They are "videos of the Beastie Boys that Ben recorded from his television and was kind enough to upload onto the internet". If they belong to anybody they belong to the person who actually shot, edited or directed the performance.
"Ben's Videos" are the ones he actually created , like his trip to G-Son. Or the times he met the Beastie Boys. Those are 100% Ben Escobedo videos and as a fellow fan I am super jazzed that he made them for us to digest and enjoy. Do I want him to stop posting on the boards? no. Do I want him to stop compiling his recorded archives? Of course not.

Ben does deserve massive credit. And I actually gave him credit in the same post I criticized him. What I didn't do was call him names [even though you calling me a wanker was hilarious] or swear at him. This whole Porkys1982gate has been blown waaaaay out of proportion already, and we don't need to have shouting matches.

We're all fans of the same band here, and I usually try really hard not to call people out because I would so much rather talk about the fact that I can't listen to "Flute Loop" with out also listening to "Do It" because to me they sound like they are one big perfect weird rap song instead of two short weird perfect rap songs. For whatever reason seeing the name over and over on every post on facebook and twitter and vimeo rubbed me the wrong way and I typed some stupid bullshit. I feel the bbmb is the original gathering though. true fans come here to www.beastieboys.com to discuss what's on the mind. Don't ditch the original and hop on the facebook bandwagon.
