Not a pleasant blog story. I would like to think that 99.9 percent of Yauch fans would not take shit or spray paint the playground (http://brooklynheightsblog.com/archives/59588). Please note: Hard to verify this story as it was posted by a blogger / reader and it has not been verified (other than the missing photo).

Oh it's true unfortunately. Already heard from several fans from New Yauch who went back to the park and said it had been stolen. :/ Assholes. But I am not surprised.

buddhists understand nothing is forever and release from ego is a part of the path - this kind of treatment of the park will only strengthen the selflessness of those who want to preserve it, so I would think Yauch would not be offended but would rather give a blessing to the person who now owns that picture...

or a meteorite should strike them down in a blasting blaze of fire and brimstone

It's New York. You can't have nothing nice.

it's weird that they would take the wax out of the candle, but it's a public park in New York City, what did you expect?

the items were both there on May 19th when I was there, along with the Tibetan flags from the ceremony, but I told my friend they were a nice touch that would eventually go away with time...

there is an old engraved plaque/marker in the ground that still says Palmetto Playground that can be removed/replaced/updated with something more permanent.

who knows who took those items- maybe it was a parks dept official or even the person who was responsible for adding them in the first place?

final thought- I read the sentence "fans would not take shit or spray paint" as a fan leaving a steamy dump on Yauch's playground.

not cool, man..
oh , wait.

I know we will probably never know where Adam’s final resting place is, but this is the next best thing. Comforting to know we can go here anytime and pay our respects to the legend.

And I hope we see more items brought into the park rather than taken out. I think every time something is taken out a bboy fan should bring something to it. ;)

Buddhists do cremation, right?

I'd be surprised if a least a dusting of his ashes haven't been placed in the park.

The photo and candles and flags were left there from the vigil that some of us had at the park on the evening of 5/4. I think most of us expected that they wouldn't be there forever (it's NYC, as others have said :)). I think it's nice that they stayed there long enough for some other people to have seen them, whether they were passing through because of Yauch, or to play basketball, or to let their kids play. It's somehow a happy thing for me to hear that other people valued the presence of those items, even if they were only there for a few weeks. (y)

Here are some pics from our little ceremony at Adam Yauch Park on May 4, 2013. I have hope that the flags are still flying. I need to visit again soon. And trust me, I'll bring back another photo and candle when I do.
