I had not seen this on the boards before. It came up as a "recommended video" because I was listening to "And Then I" on youtube.

I can't say that I like this song. But it is interesting to hear it.

Like you said, not very good but certainly interesting.
Interesting to hear Yauch really sing and sing decently at that.

Sounds like the band "Poison" or something along those lines.

Sounds like Hootie and the Blowfish stole the melody from this to create one of their biggest hits. Can't think of the title, but it sounds a lot like it. Someone in the youtube comments mentioned it too.

I only listened to the Brooklyn demos once about a decade ago. It's just... weird to me.

Didn't the Gratitude bassline originate from these sessions? Or did I dream that?

Not a dream. It's on there.

A black and white photo of the group recently surfaced online - if anyone would like a jpg of it so they can add it into their iTunes as cover art for this recording drop me an email ninthbeastie@hotmail.com and I'll send it on to you.

"I Only Wanna Be With You" and "Time"

considering they are both the same song, and they were both made in the early to mid 90's, I think we are onto something here...

The old Brooklyn demos remind me a bit of Big Fat Love. I just got a copy of the hell house record. It has some good cuts.

Not that I had ever read this anywhere, but I always assumed Brooklyn would have two Bass Players. I never pictured MCA as "just the singer".

Fuck the Hootie comparisons. The influences on this track are Dinosaur Jr/Minutemen, shit like that. Poison? Jesus Christ.

Hootie bit off this, not the other way around.

i seem to remember yauch mentioning hootie and the blowjobs in an interview somewhere. maybe he was mad.
they definately ripped this shit off. or its a really simple 2 chord thing thing that no one can really claim ownership of.
millions of songs with an E, A, B or a C, G, D progression.

maybe yauch stole this from the beatles. same 2 chords as "i got a feeling"

My respect for Hootie & the Blowfish (which can currently be charted with a toilet snake) would be raised if I learned they even heard of Brooklyn, nevermind bit the melody of one of their few (unreleased) tracks.

For the record: I hate Poison, they were to the 80's what Limp Biscuit was to the 90's.

I think I heard this one a couple years ago, the beginning guitar sounds a lot like "Daughter" by pearl jam...
but forreal...Yauch's voice=amazing

Ha, yep, I can't see it having happened myself.

Nice backing vocals.
