Though they would never admit it, following the Def Jam fallout, do you think it ever bothered the Beastie Boys that Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons kept right on trucking, always maintaining their relevance in the music industry?

Even up until TT5B the Beastie Boys were still offering up slight ribs and razzes about the situation.

I think the reverse is a better question. Did it bug them that the Beastie Boys endured and continued to be super-successful without them? (although we know the answer to that question now: At first yes, and then they became proud of of their success and being associated with them when they first really got started)

I don't think the BBoys were so arrogant as to expect Def Jam/Rush & Rick to implode or crumble without their presence.
