This is some original genre blending music here, two guys ripping it up with dual drum grooves, multi-instrumentation, and lyrics with philosophical undertones. Beastie influence for sure here!!

word, the album has a lot of different styles on it, and a few instrumentals from what I hear, I think it drops this fall, not positive though.

I think Beastie-influenced should be in another section, not Beastie primary. Especially since new music is still being produced.

sorry, i just was passing along some indie stuff i thought some of you would appreciate, as far as artists that influence these guys, they did mention the beastie boys. probably why the stuff sounds so unorthodox compared to bands that stay within the lines of traditional genres. i do hope mike d and adrock release new music together soon too!

at the 1:16 mark there is a nice beastie-type change, good to see some indie non-cookie cutter shit.

please tell me you are not a competent musician, as comparing ontologics to lame pop/rock acts is a bit ignorant...then again, we always must consider the source, so to each his own.

Micoden seriously? Go fix your remixes that are off beat, maybe get the metronome out and dust it off, actually do something not half-ass. Maybe not something in a 4/4 time signature? Wise up.

i can't listen i tried, but you butchered a simple task of remixing:
https://soundcloud.com/micodin/beastie-boys-rhyme-the-rhyme

see the difference is empirical on this one, you actually are not a musician, but a corny wanna-be dj, that can't align an acapella correctly. have fun with that bag of dicks. spaz.

Well, I should just go sell all my gear now that Mr. Nu-Metal doesn't like my music.

Or you can go suck your father. Either way, tell your moms to have a hot plate ready for me when I get home. The bitch is slacking!

dude you must be bi-polar going off like this?? lots of gay references here....hmmm....need to tell us something? not sure how the nu-metal comment makes sense, look up genres while you sell that gear of yours. haha

The difference is...

I asked you to stop posting in the General Discussion. You didn't.

You also lied about your involvement in the band. Which I can forgive, because if I was in that band as I would hide my identity as well. Good move.

But... you still lied, so that's kinda weak.

Then you attacked me and shitted on my music abilities and whatnot (thanks for listening). Posting my Soundcloud links. Whatever. I don't care.

Truthfully, I'm bored. You don't like my shit. Shrug. I find your band pretty horrible in general, but good luck with that 311 tour. I'm sure you'll be playing stadiums.

Anyways, this is lame. It's a beautiful day out, enjoy your day. I'm out.

word. no offense taken, and it's just the drummer & myself doing everything ourselves on a indie budget of $10 an hour from our 9-5 crap.
didn't mean to diss you, just wanted to let you know where i was coming from reading your harsh opinions, seeing they perhaps weren't warranted, but more subjective.

I'm comparing Ontologics to other monumentally shitty artists. It's a pretty solid basis for comparison because your music sucks. That would all be fine and I wouldn't have much to say about it - you're not the only person who just isn't very good at what they do - but it's obnoxious, offensive, and incredibly self-centered for you to post your bullshit music over and over again on another band's message board. Stop being a self-promotional tool.

Your music is not shit, you guys have a lot of musical talent, but

. . . your blending of styles is not that original and your music is not that unorthodox. That's not the end of the world or anything but don't sell yourself as something you are not. It only builds expectations that you can't meet. The fact that you try to label it like some type of unorthodox ground-breaking, elevated music is a problem because you can't deliver on that promise.

Pretending to be some random fan when you're really a band member is an even bigger problem.

But, what annoyed me the most, is that you came here assuming the demographic here is a bunch of 311 fans. That pretty much highlights how much you really don't know about the Beastie Boys. The Beastie Boys are a HIP HOP act. Even when they're playing hardcore they are a HIP HOP act. They aren't, and never have been, an indy-rock band trying to cash in on the "cool factor" of hip hop styles. There's a big difference between the Beastie Boys and 311. One has a solid foundation built on hip hop code and the other is biting hip hop shit for cool points. The Beasties are "down" with Grandmaster Flash and 311 is not. One is on the cover of Midnight Marauders and the other isn't. You've assumed that we can't tell the difference, maybe because you've overlooked the difference yourself and haven't done your own homework.

Anyway, don't get me wrong, you guys have some talent but you will ruin it by trying to be something you are not. Don't rap if you don't know your shit because you will come off sounding like 311 and those of us who came up on hip hop will see through you like the invisible woman.

I'm not trying to be combative or anything just honest. I probably would have kept it to myself had you not come on here under false pretenses but the deception made me feel like this thread needed some brutal honesty.

King Crimson is a dope band.

agreed. originally i did say it was me, but that was back in march when i posted the first video short, but yea i get your point. i know the beasties are hip hop and 311 is more on the lame side of shit. the album does sound a lot different than these tracks here, and there is some instrumental and prog shit on it, but yea based off the songs released so far you are right. thanks for actually listening too, and sorry for spamming. not trying to be a dick, just trying to share what we worked so hard on.

People get mad and sometimes overly possessive here a lot. They mean well but I don't understand getting that mad and putting you down so harshly over something as benign as this? It's a little over the top.

I agree with everything Sir Scratch said and YoungRemy's general sentiment though. It's clear your work is a step above amateur and that at the very least you put a lot of work into your stuff.

It's really hard getting stuff seen. You did make the mistake of posting this in the wrong place, but don't be discouraged and stay focused making more music that's you and learning the right ways to promote.

I liked the music when I listened to it(y) I like the instrumental stuff a lot. It's definitely not bad.

I understand and respect all of that.

I understand the hustle to get people excited about your art. But, I respect the game and I go through the right channels.

But the lying and shit is weak. It would of been advantageous of you to be honest from the jump. Like, I'm a Beasties fan and this is my band. What do you think?

I rarely post anything I've done on the board. Posting on here isn't going to get me more gigs or contacts. I usually share with the friends I've made on the board privately for feedback.

But then again what do I know? I'm "not a musician, but a corny wanna-be dj".

Shrug.

Look, I like music made by a few BBMB members but that this discussion happening here is wrong.

I dont go to church and pray to myself. I dont go to church to give others praise.

We are lucky the BBMB has channels for us to get together and be selfish and other, but I do think respecting the Beastie Boys area as just that is not unreasonable.

its bad enough to mention CJ here, but when he's hanging with Adrock I think it should be here?

I just want to say good job KC and brother!

Are you the guy in the vid who twirls the mic like a windmill? Do it like a G.O. next time. Chuck D kinda does that toss the mic in the air and catch-it thing and it's cool.

So anyway just wanted to say I like it. Cool logo too, especially the trippy triangle with all the colors. That would make a really cool guitar pick. You guys kinda sound like Lostprophets, Shootyz Groove and Hoobastank...with a splash of Crazy Town tossed in the salad just for fun. Crazy Town would be like the croutons to the Shootyz Groove spinach.

Good luck, and don't forget to add a raisin to top that bitch off!
