Random question. Does anyone else on the board own any of the same types of music gear that the B-Boys use.

Like SP-1200's and the like.

I've got an MPC2000(xl), which is a newer model but similar to the 60, which is what a lot of people was using in the early 90s. SP12s are a little more vintage but are dope! Very limited sample time on those.

Then you've got the technic 1200s but pretty much everybody has those.

What I really would like some day is an 808!

I had a classic MPC 2000 with the external zip drive, but sold it and bought a used MPC 1000 and the Maschine. They are much more practical.

I have 2 Technics 1200's, ECM-V1 SONY Variety Microphone, and a Roland MC-505 (which Mike used for a while).

I have more gear, but I'm not sure if any of the B-Boys used it or not.

He bought his 808 at Road Music on 30th Street for $250. He used it to make the beat for LL Cool Js first record and takes credit for discovering him.

I don't think he means he used the 808 to make that beat though... cause, 'I need a beat' (LL's first record) doesn't have 808 drums, but DMX drums.

And he has a song writers credit for that song. Weird.

That is a great story -- makes me want to find an 808. There would be one
in the moogseum:
