After listening again to Here's a little something for ya and Too many rappers original versions.
I much prefer them, they have a rawer hip hop sound, more like check your head style.
I feel like maybe ZDAR didnt really have much input on tracks Say it and Lee majors come again and they are the strongest tracks on the album.
I would love to hear the original version of HSC which was only six weeks from release in sept 2009 when it was put on hold,I cant understand when so many copies must have been produced in july 2009 that they have'nt leaked by now,or even promo copies sent to reviewers.

Wait, so do you have an original version for "Here's A Little Something For Ya"? I've been looking for that. I have the Lee Majors/HALSFY LP but that only includes remixes and an acapella. Does yours have the pre-Zdar music?
As regards your question, we would need both full albums to decide for sure, but I think Zdar definitely gave it a nice added thump. Agree that it's amazing that nothing has leaked in 4 years!

Yeah I prefer the original TMR, although I admit I wasn't blown away in '09 upon it's release. The lyrics seemed less inspired to me than what had come before, perhaps more than TT5B. Though it grew on me.
I wonder if Zdar just over-produced the whole thing?

i doubt zdar produced anything. the beastie boys produced everything themselves as far as we know.
while it's most certainly a matter of opinion, I think Zdar vastly improved HSC. the mixes that surfaced pre-Zdar sounded like shit. muddy, narrow, and flat. thats speaking on a strictly sonic level, not production. i doubt the re-imagining of Too Many Rappers was a result of Zdar's participation.

The original version of Lee Majors is far superior to me.
On why there has been no leak, I think it speaks for itself. The only review / track guides I read were based on listening sessions. TT5B had the same treatment, journalists searched etc before being allowed in. I'm assuming it's standard practice! I can't think of many albums which have leaked a full 6 weeks before release, so I'm not sure why people are convinced there are promo copies of the original doing the rounds without a single upload to speak of - there obviously isn't any!

Yes there are. The band gave a few copies out to a few DJs to listen to for remix possibilities. They exist.

Where is that from? On the basis of a few remixes of particular tracks?

I like the Zdar treatment. Sounds a lot better to me. Especially too many rappers. Much bigger.

B-boys in the cut was sent to a few bands to remix.
The Pinker Tones and MIS among others. The Pinker Tones version is out there. The Mexican Institute of Sound one is not (heard it once and was pretty good).

The B-boys in the Cut accapella is on the Lee Majors 7". That was put out before ZDAR did his work on the album but there's no full version of B-boys In Cut on that 7" and I'm not sure if a pre-ZDAR full version is floating around out there.
Shadow and Cut Chemist at least had access to Lee Majors and Here's a Little Somethin For Ya accapellas to do the DJ Hero remixes they made.
But none of that really tells you what the album would sound like without ZDAR. The only full cuts I've heard that didn't get the ZDAR treatment are Lee Majors, Too Many Rappers, and Pop Your Balloon.

The only song i didn't think was better post-Zdar was Lee Majors. I thought he made it too busy. That said, after listening to it in the context of Part II for the past couple of years I much prefer Zdars remix.

HSC II tracks are proof that there is a God.
It is nice to hear some older version and enjoy it, but the tracks on the album are tight.
