I can think of like, maybe four or five people roughly my age that I know who haven't gone back to school after completing their first four year degree or dropping out to do something new.

What's this about? Are people just fundamentally undecided on what they want to do in life until about age 25?

Personally, I knew I wanted to go back for my MS as soon as I graduated. I just had taken a long while to get my BS and wanted to get some work experience before spending two more years in school. I'm glad I did - but it took me about 3 years to do it and if I had waited any longer I probably wouldn't have gone back at all.

I went back to school at the tender age of 34. I'm only a couple of years younger than my teachers and older than some of them. And could be the father of some of the students in some of my classes.

I wish I had stuck with it from the get go. But sometimes it just takes some major life event for some people to get back into school. And sometimes people STILL don't know what they want to do well into their 40's. I have no point or crazy insight on the topic at hand. But am just glad I went back to school.

I got my associates in 2003 then wanted to go on to get my BA. Unfortunately I had no financial assistance from my parents but I was too young to not include their income tax info for financial aid, so I didn't get much help there either. After I was old enough to not have to put them down on my financial aid, lots of life happened and I still wanted to go back, but put it on the back burner.

I was finally able to financially make it happen, so I finally went back and finished almost a month ago. (y)

^congrats!

I kinda want to go back to school for tech stuff. I feel like there are jobs available now that I would be good at that didn't exist when I was choosing a degree. I completed a comedy writing program last year, and did very well...but I realized I actually hate writing and haven't done any since graduating. I still produce a comedy show, but I think in the long run I'd rather do something less subjective and more concrete. Anyway, I've been trying to move forward with visual art. I've been selling a lot of dumb designs I don't care about to fund more ambitious projects.

For what it's worth, I always liked the stuff you posted in the old ART THREAD. (y)

When i first went to uni , i got a great education. Unfortunately, that education was about girls, sex ,music and drugs. Did absolutely no work whatsoever.

Then about 5 or 6 years later i really started to regret it. Not really regretting doing that course as it really wasnt for me. I just did it because i thought i had to. I wanted to do some sort of media course. So i signed up for a media studies degree at the university down the road. It was a bit easier to work as i was off campus and just turned up for lessons as opposed to immersing myself in student life again. During the 2nd year, I was loving it and doing really well at most of it but balancing my job with the course was difficult and then my dad got really sick and no money was coming in so i had to leave the course and go full time at work.

I would really like to go back one day but i think the ship has sailed.
