In '98 Everlast put out "Whitey Ford Sings the Blues" which was a blend of rap with acoustic and electric guitars. And his solo records since has been the same formula.
I get it, but I don't get it.

Jay Z unplugged with The Roots (2001) was another good one.

There was a Yo MTV Unplugged Raps show from 1991 that pretty much broke the acoustic/rap thing. I mean there are other examples but the MTV thing was probably the biggest one.
LL doing Mama Said Knock You Out. LL in his absolute prime. He gives a ferocious performance. With his cheeseball acting these days we forget how dope he was, especially live:

Here is the MTV News segment about the show:

Tribe doing Can I Kick It?:

Another great LL performance, and then some De La Soul:

Lyte was also on this but I can't find her video.
Trivia: Backing band is Pop's Cool Love, a short-lived early 90's L.A. funk-rock group.

Everlast has been doing that since he adapted his Whitey Ford persona. Back then had some band called "The White Folks" backing him up and when would do a blues version of "Jump Around"
