This writer especially burns me up because I think her arguments are horseshit and the tone is so fucking precious I want to vomit. Anyway, I don't think she actually knows any humans I think she just reads twitter.
Just wondering what other people think....

I can't stand most of Jezebel at all to be honest. Once in a while there's an ok article, but so many of the articles have a really immature, snarky attitude about them. I know that they're intended to be opinion pieces and they're targeted for a specific audience, but I really gave it a try.

I researched this Lindy West woman. She writes the exactly same way that she talks, its hard to follow her and she doesn't entirely make sense. Im not even entirely sure what this article was about. Are white people just automatically racist no matter what they do? Im not sure if that's what she meant.
I feel bad for her because of how brutal people are towards her because of her appearance, not because of the things she says.

she seems just as detached as everyone else she's complaining about.
Lazy writing - it's conversational english at best with a somewhat broken flow.
She's trying to make some kind of point about how we shouldn't make racist jokes even ironically or with disclaimers that we're not racist - but she tries to argue that race isn't complicated by saying it doesn't exist.

Okay good, it's not just me! Sometimes I see people share that writer's work or like it and every time I go to read whatever it is I'm like what is this bullshit? And then I look at the author and it's her every time.
I honestly thought she seemed racist. Like only black people are thugs? Or only black people go to IHOP? What? Or no white person is allowed to like anything but whatever white people invented?
I used to throw gang signs in junior high just to be goofy, TWENTY years ago. This isn't a new hipster thing. It's not racist. My friends and I didn't copy "gangsta" culture because we were racist, we just thought that inner city black people were super cool and more exciting than the dumb boring suburbs. Is that really racist? We weren't even thinking about disparaging a race, we were trying to embrace counter culture. Minorities created awesome cultures and brand new types of music because they were excluded from mainstream society by force. So it's real weird to me that it's somehow wrong to proliferate a culture that is more interesting than whatever 50s nightmare white people are supposed to be into.
Anyway, I don't know a single person like the "everyone" she describes. And the end note of give me sincere racism or no racism is just fucking idiotic.

people that are anti racism crazy I think cause more problems than people that are genuinely racist. they're the type of people that won't acknowledge a problem within a community because that problem may be a very stereotypical problem that persists within those communities. to them even acknowledging the problem would mean you think and notice things in a racist way. glossing over the problem or trying to find any other reason for the problem to be someone else's fault because of guilt.

I think it's fine to be aware of differences and understand stereotypes instead of ignoring them. Because it's really not the race of the person, it's the culture. And there are varying degrees of assholes and/or idiots in every culture.
If you take a holistic view, you can see that it's circumstance that drives the differences anyway. You could take any stereotype and back track to find the source. The color of the person's skin or the features on a person's face doesn't determine behavior, it's the long history of circumstance.
Anyway, I wish people wouldn't be so dramatic. I think younger people are more educated about this stuff and don't care as much about racial differences. But I could be wrong. When I was younger, I thought racism was a thing from the past.

I went to an urban school system before I was sent off to a suburban school system. the reason being was that the urban school system had developed a very bad reputation. the actual school system was actually pretty good. the education it offered was a lot better than the education offered in the surrounding suburban school systems. it was just getting overran with hoodrats so the grades were really bad compared to the grades of the kids in the suburban school systems. but for some reason all the blame was being put on the school system and the city for why these particular kids were failing at academics. not because they had shit parents raising shit kids creating a very bad environment within the schools. so instead of addressing the problem they just made it easier to pass. effectively holding everyone to a lower standard and passing them so everyone would shutup and stop screaming racism. unintentionally making the school system even shitter. what did this accomplish? nothing! instead of addressing the issue so to not hurt anyone's feelings they just lowered the bar so everyone could succeed! do that for 20-30 years and you raise a whole generation of a particular group of kids with a shit education. so now all the people with the means to get their kids out of this school system do so creating an unintentionally segregated school system! all because the real issue is getting dodged as to not hurt anybody's feelings!
then the state instituted standardized testing and the same group of kids weren't passing the testing revealing nothing had been accomplished with helping these kids. because in order to help these kids you have to acknowledge that these kids are being raised shitty and nobody wants to do that because somebody will scream racism.
