View Full Version : Obscure things from the board you've appropriated.
I seriously think to myself "Magritte graffiti" every couple of months and write "this is not ____" on a whiteboard or something.
DorothyWood said that once. Once.
edit: I also bust out laughing any time I see someone near a canon, but that's not really obscure.

haha, weird. I can't think of any right now, but I'm sure there are plenty.
Oh, man. I'm the only one.
JammyB tag line thing under her name or maybe in her signature used to say "I wish I wish I was a fish".
Don't know where it's from but I sometimes say it.

I think it's from The Incredible Mr. Limpet with Don Notz.

i think one of the things appropriated from here for all the people that were around for that time when it was almost an everyday chat thing was this "online memory" sort of thing in common we all have. a lot of us have memories from threads on here that were things that actually happened in this mid-way not quite reality but not quite fantasy realm of existence.
i mean, an occasional online thread between people is one thing, but this was a whole other level…years of conversations with actual development of different levels of complex relationships, meaning the people that were part of that during those years developed social connections to the point that we sort of knew each other´s personalities, lives, problems, you name it. Not all of them obviously, but often more than just the superficial.
it was an actual moment of our lives that we built together, in parallel with other moments, but it happened and, well, it was a moment in time we can´t erase and this appropriated online memory will never cease to be, will it? that´s just thought provoking,to say the least, sociologically speaking, etc, i don´t know. like the way that some people will read this that were around during those times and will recognise this to be my usual style of commentary along with some crazy bullshit haha
and the cannons, yes, it´s happened to me. and a whole other list of things we could come up with if we went way back and remembered.
assholes! :D

it felt like we all hung out together on our lunch break in some massive busy plaza at some café and we all had our cliques that preferred one café over another but sometimes we mingled a bit between cafes. then when our lunch break was over we just kinda didn't give a shit about each other and went back to work.
like how you know that guy on the bus and you always have a conversation every day but you never know his name then one day he's never on the bus again.

That's a pretty good metaphor.

that is a really good metaphor, with cliques and everything haha, god we were such dorks i swear, but it was pretty hilarious. we should all come back, well, i am sort of getting on here more often, but so should the rest of the kids
and it´s sort of melancholic as well… what if one day this thing gets erased and we all never "speak" to each other ever again!!
I'm sure tpk would let us know before, if that were to happen. wait a second, is he even on this thing anymore?! if not, who´s in charge, people?!
anyway, see you all next lunch break :o

I don't think I've picked up anything while posting at this board, but I liked the time some of us spent in #beastieboys. It was fun, talking in there with TAL, Helvete, Randetica/Lyman, Yetra, zippo, ASsman, and Ace. It got pretty crazy in there some nights, haha.

And I still get emails from that Aerosmith forum from that one time a bunch of us spammed their boards. What the hell? That was like 10 years ago.

Also: it dawned on me today that I'd first posted on this board almost twenty years ago.
Nah, maybe 17. But still
Seriously though we were innovators ahead of our time
Way ahead if you really consider the fact that this forum existed a long time before MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any of that other shit people use daily today ever existed.
In my heart I'm still an innovator that's ahead of his time
We are teh Internet rockstars
Many Many years ago I posted a polaroid photo of me in a talent show performing the New Style. I have since lost that photo and when I search keywords like talent show or VCU I cannot find it. I wonder if they purged messages or photos from the late 90s and early 2000s? I would love to find the link to that photo. It was during the days of Knuckles, Marsdaddy, etc....I think I was responding to a girl that posted quite a bit but for the life of me I cannot remember her user name. I hate that this polaroid might be gone forever.

The cannon thing still makes me snicker.
The CRAZY things that I used to say make me cringe. It's nuts to think I registered for this place almost ten years ago. I guess I can't be too hard on myself because I'm aware of how much of a fool I was at 18. Still, I think it was fun getting to interact with everyone during the best of times. Sorry for all the bullshit.
Goodbye!

Echewta's undocumented work with Edison and Tesla in the late 1800's has proven to be really invaluable.

This one for me. I can't help imagining Brett Lambert and his big gay smile whenever I see a cannon. It's haunting.
