I loved the Beastie Boys as much as everyone on this forum. We all are still trying to figure out why and 'what now' after MCA. Most of us still can't understand. But, could this work? Drinking more than a few Millers tonight, and conversing with my brother, I thought, Mike D, AD Rock and ......Eminem....that might work...not as the Beastie Boys, but as something NOW. That may be the only way I personally could see anything from Mike and Adam again. And according to my bro, Rick Rubin has worked with both....I would openly welcome a concert with Mike D, AD, and Eminem.....that would, no doubt, be sick...Do you agree? Or am I just grabbing?

No way, never, not a chance. In before you get sacrificed by virgins.

I did dream one night recently about a video where Mike dressed up as Hornblower and the editing sucked and so on and the song was essentially a jokey dissertation about how truly devastatingly fucked it all is with Yauch gone. Then I woke up and went to pee.

Hahaha, which means you have no vote...Funky Monk dreams don't count.. If that was an option in the votes, I would have given it to you, but when you repeat Mike D, Ad Rock and Eminem, I'm in... Whatever % that makes the trio legit..

I passed off the idea of a Berzerk remix featuring Mike and Adam and it wasn't well received. Yours is not a good suggestion, man.

I'm a little surprised. Not by what you said, but by US not being to do this...This is my own personal shit...MCA...no one can represent...But if we all, As a Beastie Community, Could get, Mike D, AD Rock, and Eminem, in a fuckin concert,....WHAT ELSE ARE YOU DOING?

Kid Presentable,
You've done nothin but be negative.
lucky for you, I rap.........
Making ears bleed,
While the bass does the most trauma.
I drop Beets,
Like I'm working for a turnip farmer.

1.Mike and adam only ever drop about 8 bars at a time on a song and eminem drops about a thousand so it wouldnt work.
2.eminem style of music that he release as singles,i don't know about album tracks are way too chart friendly
3.I think their project will be a rocky dance music type thing

Other than a one time only something blah performance of Berzerk, no.
But even that... no.

it is cool to me that Eminem was the best selling artist in the 2000's and also someone who is a BB fan.

I am not sure we can ever make something work the way it was, but these three would be cool by me.

There is more chance of getting my Grandmother in the Paratroopers than of this happening.

Its not a good idea.

I really dont want/mind if the two never do anything again. They gave us lots and i imagine it would be very difficult for them to put together/promote etc without MCA

I have no issue with Emeniem, but I know this would never happen or work. He's so negative for the Beasties and yeah the dude lays down a thousand bars.

I'd be ok with a Lonely Island collab over a eminem one if it had to be white "rappers".

I think we got the best collab when Get it Together dropped.

Ozzy rapping would be funny. Perhaps a Beastie Boys / Black Sabbath super group called the Black Boys would be good, especially after a couple of Millers.

I think we got the best collab when Get it Together dropped.

As much as I like Get It Together, I prefer the So What'cha Want (Soul Assassin Remix version). I thought B-Real's raps fit the vibe of the song and DJ Muggs killed it with that beat.

Q-Tip killed it too, but I was a little disappointed when I found out he just freestyled his verse and the B-Boys cobbled their vocals around Tip's. Which in retrospect is a pretty cool idea.

Either way, those were much better than the collab with Nas. I love Nas, but he sounds like he was cruise control and just phoned his verses in.

True that Soul Assasians one is good. It slipped my mind.

Also didn't Nas record his lyrics in his studio and just emailed them over to Boys? So he sort of did just phone them in.

Here's the thing, the reason the Beasties are so dope is because of the interplay between them. Not just the personalities working together, but also the interplay between the sounds of their voices. They all complimented each other so that the sum is greater than the parts. You can't just add in some random white dude and think it's going to work.

Politics aside, Eminem just doesn't work. His voice isn't right, his rhyme style isn't right, it would clash. In my opinion, Q*Tip only mostly worked in Get it Together. It's a dope track, but I'm not sure a whole album would work. It's not the "gel" you get with the 3 Beasties. Same thing with Nas on too many rappers. He's just not gelling in there. Same with B-Real on the Whatcha Want Remix. He's an add on to that track more than an essential component. Plus, B-Real and Adrock on a whole album would be nasal overkill (Nasal Tounges?). If you're going to go that route then make it B-Real, Adrock, and Rammellzee.

The only MC I can think of off the top of my head that could work would be Biz Markee and that probably wouldn't work right either. Mike and Adam as a duo would probably be the best way to go.

Anyway why do these types of suggestions always have to be a white guy? It's a little bit like when the Supreme Court replaced Thurgood Marshall with Clarence Thomas.

Yeah the fact is, none of the collaborations they've done would be one of my favorite Beastie songs. All of them seem to be just some off the cuff type thing that was done over a couple hours. Not much thought put into it.

I understand that the whole vibe clashing between Eminem and Beasties would be an obstacle, but if they all got on the same page and went in the studio together for a couple days I believe they could do a good song.

But that is not going to happen. For one they are not the kind of guys that would hang out together, and for two, I don't think the Beasties spent very much time on their more recent rap stuff anyway. Just to do one song, it would take a big commitment and I don't believe there is any motivation for this commitment.

after Berzek, seems like Em and Rick or someone in or around... or an executive paying for that recording session would have had to say "What about getting Mike D and Ad-Rock on a remix". Rick could have reached out... so one or more of these 4 artists decided this wasn't the right move.

If it's crossed the our minds, it had to have crossed their minds as well

Actually, I think you're probably right. Either not right or not possible. I know they'd never do anything like this, but I'd be excited as shit it if they all got together for a song.

"Reach out" ? You reach out to your friends. It was my impression Rick and the Beasties are not friends and don't talk. Am I wrong ?

Same with Eminem. Have they ever even met ? I've never seen a picture of them together.

With MCA just passing I think it would have been in poor taste to ask them to get on the song.....it's better just as an Eminem song that is sort of a tribute/Beastie style song. Rick and Eminem both knew this.

I also suggest adding MC Serch to this line-up. Not as a rapper though. He should just dance in the background like Janet Jackson.

Only if he promises to bring back the fade, and only if he promises that shit to be higher than BDK circa 1988...errr scratch that, and only if he promises that shit to be higher than play or kid or whichever one of those dudes (the lighter shade one) had the super duper high-top, and only if he promised to carve the 3 R D in it. Ugh oh yeah and the fatty has to still dance in the background like JJ!

Serch has a talk show coming to the CW 11 here in NY. I hear the first episode will be Adrock and Mike D setting the record straight on the white boy rap feud between the Beasties and 3rd Bass. The episode title takes its name from Real World alum Heather B.'s early 90's hip hop classic "All Glock' s Down."
