Thanks! So good to hear that voice again! I know EVERYONE is thinking the same thing but I hope Beastie Boys carry on... or at least if that isn't possible, like if Mike D isn't down or something.. maybe Adrock releases something with Minty Fresh Beats at least... and they tour it, of course:eek:

Ad-Rock is one-hundred percent pure class professional. He really lands those lines during that brief video clip. I need to get to Joe's Pub to catch a performance one of these days.

good to see Adam continuing to lay low and take a back seat to the friends and family that he respects in the NY performance art world.
he obviously is having a good time and not taking himself too seriously during this post Beastie hiatus.
not so much as far as his fans and their expectations.

I am most happy to see Adam continuing to have fun with his friends in the NY performance art, hip hop and punk worlds. As ever, he is having a good time making music with friends. I respect the fact that Adam has never tried to change his style to please fan preferences or cave into their expectations.

What expectations? I'd go to a Champagne Jerry show for the lols but I certainly don't hold him in the same esteem as Adrock. Dude can - and does - do what he wants. There's nary an expectation being posted other than the fact that people miss Horovitz, and by extension Mike D, and it follows that they miss MCA and thus the Beastie Boys.
M*F you write like he's reading it or something. Patronising.

Who am I patronising, do you mean YoungRemy? What are your expectations? It was YoungRemy who brought up the point of fan expectations. I am quite happy with what Ad-Rock and Mike D have been working on since Yauch went to hang out with the great Buddha in the sky. I used to expect a new Beastie Boys LP every 3-5 years. Now we are in an understandably new stage which appears unpredictable in some respects. I suppose I expect that some sort of serious LP by Ad-Rock and/or Mike D will hit the shelves of an indie record shop in 2015 or 2016. The only reason I predict that, is I presume the reason they go back into the studio is that they cannot help but to do so. I have no idea, I only met Mike D once in my life and have never met Ad-Rock. My feeling is that they do what they want and cannot help but make music in their lives.

04-09-2014, 09:29 AM
yeah- I was talking about fan expectations of who and how Adrock makes music with, specifically regarding his fun NYC solo side projects.
I have seen fans walk out of the Tender Moments show because they thought they were getting an Adrock show- expectations.
we all have them. I'm not trying to project mine, but it is clear that they are all different.
I'm less excited by what Mike D and Adrock might do in the future, because I don't know if that will ever happen.
but I do know we will get one more definitive Beastie Boys project with the memoir and I am hoping to hear some new gems included with that.
why can't he do both- ie recording/planning the next Beastie project while staying close to home and backing up his friends on their projects?
"shit would be tight without jerry"
actually that's a pretty tight verse regardless!

You seem to be implying that the comment attacks Adam Horovitz's happiness. That and you're putting up points I've already made or cosigned as a means of pointing out wrongdoing.
That song, verse, whatever would be tight without Jerry. That's all I mean. I don't mean fuck Adrock for doing what makes him happy, or fuck his friends for making him happy at a hard time. Am I some kind of deranged creep?
I get that the music is in fun, and holding it to the same standards as 'actual' stuff is harsh, but that's just how I feel. I'd check out a Jerry show, sure. But I'm not so stupid as to walk out because it's not Beastie Boys. What the fuck? It's not expectations. It's what I hear. I like the Adrock verse but comedy raps aren't traditionally my thing. Shit would be tight without Jerry.
Good for Adam for taking a backseat and helping his bud get some shine. Glad he's having fun. Wish we all could.

I understand homophobia is a disease rotting away at the soul and the only way you can express your desire to fuck Ad-Rock is to fuck Ad-Rock's friends. Or did you mean you would prefer to just have Ad-Rock and the Prancercise lady Joanna Rohrback (http://youtu.be/aaPnpS7bSnw) instead of Jerry because of his medium-sized dick? Seriously though, since Run-DMC's earliest videos, rap = comedy, I do not think we need a separate genre called "comedy rap". Or do we? According to some (http://www.allmusic.com/artist/biz-markie-mn0000107294) Biz Markie is one of the best comedy rappers. On a related note some claim skits on hip hop albums are on the decline / being phased out (http://www.avclub.com/article/phasing-out-the-skit-how-hip-hop-outgrew-one-of-it-69485).
Thought someone might be interested in listening to two hours of hip hop skits. Below is the link:

It is CJ's first line from the song (i.e., the 'medium-sized dick' part) and the 'fuck Ad-Rock' part is a play on Kid Pres' words when he said he did not mean to insult Ad-Rock. I know my jokes are too subtle for your residual remnants of a cortex.
On a more sober note, I do think some people may not like CJ because they are homophobic. I do not think those creeps hang out here, but you never know.

Yeah, pretty much anyone but Jerry.
And the Eminem comparisons is where Jerry supporters cross the line from being ridiculous to nonsensical. If you want put Jerry in a positive light, don't compare him to ANY other rappers. Because any other rapper that you will name will be superior to Jerry in every category.
Also: Jerry supporters should also stop trying to act like critiques of Jerry are somehow personal attacks against Adrock that are somehow saying that he shouldn't be allowed to collaborate with who he wants to collaborate with. That's bullshit. Jerry sucks, just pointing it out. That's it. Nobody is saying Adrock doesn't have a right to do what he wants.
If anyone from Beastiemixes is here could you possibly do a remixe so we can enjoy the Adrock verses minus any Jerry presence? That would be nice (y)
