Hello!

Was having a travel conundrum and avignon suggested I check on here.

As good an excuse as any to post I guess.

I'm going to attend the E3 this year and am looking for a hotel or apartment to stay in with a colleague (saturday to saturday). We've checked a bunch of stuff but seeing as most of my L.A. knowledge comes from 80's/90's hip hop and GTA... well... like I said, advice might be needed.

My colleague sent me a link to a place that turned out to be in Crenshaw, which I only know of from Dr Dre songs.

So basically: What area's should we avoid, what area's should we look at.

Stuff to do is also on the list but is less urgent seeing as the trip is two months away.

On an unrelated note, did I miss anything on here? Just saw my last post was from 2012...

Crenshaw isn't the usual place where tourists stay. If you are in Crenshaw on business, but looking for a city to stay within a 15-20 minute cab ride (but safer), you could look into the hotels around LAX in El Segundo or stay near the beach in Manhattan Beach. At least that would give you a nice way of being in L.A./seeing the ocean/eating at some great spots/etc., while you work in Crenshaw, which is rather urban and inland with little to no charm.

I live down here, so you and avignon should hit me up when it gets closer.

Hello! Been a while :) How's things?

Unfortunately it's a business trip and I'll be going to L.A. without avignon (the irony of which isn't lost on me, she hasn't been back to the US since she moved here and I'm going to the US before she has had the chance to).

I don't need to be in Crenshaw, so that's a plus. It was an example of neighbourhoods in which I found places to stay that didn't exactly sound inviting from a thoroughly uninformed point of view (case in point: El Segundo only rings a bell because of the Tribe song *shame* )

The hotel that I'm currently hoping to book is in Koreatown (Wilshire Boulevard). I'm pretty excited about that one. 20 Minute subway ride to the Convention Center (where I need to be for work).

Hotel looks purrrrdy, but that's probably because I've seen a fair share of dodgy ones online.

Can hopefully book it this week.

Thanks for the message though! Will bug you with more questions at a later date :)
