sorry, the title of this thread does not do this post justice.
forgive me if this has already been posted at some point, but it was new to me and was a real mindblower.
first off here is the setting:
august 9, 1986: mario c and childhood friend $mark drop acid and go to see the beasties perform for the first time at club power tools. while they don't meet the bboys that night, the beasties blow out the PA speakers at club Power Tools within the first 2 songs. this results in Mario eventually taking over sound duties for the club and later joining the club's organizer Matt Dike as engineer for his Delicious Vinyl upstart label and it's staff producers the Dust Brothers. the rest is literally history.
now here's a link (http://www.adioslounge.com/thats-a-record-cause-of-mario/) to a dope article that not only offers a great image of the flyer from that night (an image not yet available on beastiemania), but it offers a soundclip of the performance itself, complete with the system shutting down and all. this performance was hands-down one of the most fateful moments in beastie history. FUCKING SWEET. i never realized this had been recorded.
scroll down about 3/4 of the page for the soundbite. the article sets it up real nice though, so you should read that too.
sorry again if i'm late to this party :o
ENJOY!
