from the Monster Children issue #43
OBEY is releasing a collaborative shirt with the Adam Yauch Foundation for their OBEY Awareness program. Shepard Fairey originally created the image with Glen E. Friedman after Adam "MCA" Yauch of the Beastie Boys passed away in 2012. It's finally getting a proper release two years later to raise money for children's music programs under the Adam Yauch Foundation. OBEY will donate 100 per cent of the money raised.Available worldwide for fall 2014.

The Adam Yauch Foundation was formed in memorial of Adam "MCA" Yauch of The Beastie Boys. It was established by Adam's friends and family to support the causes he held dear, and to honor his life by endeavoring to help the lives of others. In conjunction with OBEY Awareness, The Adam Yauch Foundation will be raising money for children's music charities.
Music is such a fundamental part in the development of children. Beyond the fundamentals of language development and motor skills, it also nurtures individuality and creativity that goes well beyond the classroom. It gives kids an understanding of themselves and a means of self-expression.
Music is one of the most powerful creative mediums and I'm always amazed by it's ability to move your feet, make your arm hairs stand up and activate your brain all at once. The joy, creative problem solving and communication that is possible through music are hard for me to convey verbally but anyone with ears can relate to the theraputic benefits of music for both the creator and listener. Wouldn't it be great if children had more opportunities to make music? I think so, and I'm honored to support the ethos and creative legacy of the Beastie Boys and Adam Yauch. The sun is shining, let's roll back the awning! ~Shepard Fairey

It's nice, but Friedman's iconic photo enhanced by Shepard is nicer imo. And since OBEY's brand is huge, more people will probably buy one and that brings more money to the Adam Yauch Foundation.

I'm assuming they've sold out?
The link above isn't working for me, it just takes me to the OBEY homepage.
If that's the case, congrats to those who did get them, they look awesome.

Shit no XL in the basic... so I can't grab mine yet.
Anyways, when Shepard Fairey visited Denver a few years back I got him to autograph a poster sized print (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151099817076737&set=a.10151099816196737.465238.819411736&type=3&theater) of the billboard him and Glenn did. I asked him if he had a favorite Beastie line or memory and he went straight away to MCA's classic line (y)

Shipping outside the US has gotten very expensive. I shipped out a bunch of cds last year. I was planning on sending some to Canada and Europe. But they have made it so expensive it just didn't make sense. Unfortunately.
