Has this happened? There was a few CD re-issues eh? Don't know if they were remastered though. Beasties hold the master tapes or do Def Jam?
I'd like a vinyl remaster anyhow. It's great album, and totally crucial to the bands legacy and is being neglected because of dumb 80s legal shit.

Does anyone have these? If so, how do they sound? I'm really hoping they do something for the 30th anniversary in a couple of years but that seems unlikely.
I have the CD, and other than being louder, I would say it's only a marginal improvement over the original.

I think it could be my favourite Beasties album now. Possibly just cause it's the first I've listened to in full for quite a while, but it's a damn good listen. If you can still get with the old school production.
Would be good to get a proper remaster, get some bonus tracks, perhaps the Rock Hard single bundled with it and Desperado or whatever. But we know that's asking too much.

I have all of them. I should say up front that I have no technical knowledge of what a good remaster should sound like. Having said that, in my opinion POMP is on the mark. The best recording I've heard of LTI for my own tastes is the SHM-CD Japan reissue. If you're looking for the best sound from a remastering perspective on vinyl, I'm 95% convinced that the new bootleg with the demo tracks used the SHM-CD as a source for the release. I don't know how that translated to vinyl because I haven't played it yet.

What are some good interviews/writings on the recording on this album? I wanna figure out what was going through there head regarding the lyrical content etc of the album at the time.
It can probably be put down to their youth, but it seems so different to the Beastie Boys after and even the punk Beasties before (though I guess Egg Raid is kinda a connection).
Did the idea of brat rap come from them, or was it encourage by Rubin/Simmons, who saw there was a potential market for this kind of rap? Or was it just them having fun?
Either way it's awesome, and I don't know why I'm finding it so fascinating now, having lived with the album for 13+ years now.

No such genre as "brat rap", However, LTI is a cornerstone of this Hip Hop genre:

It's undeniably classic.

Ok Mr. Wikipedia, there's no such thing as Brat Rap, but I can use it to describe the music if I like, because there's elements of it which would fit that description.
Anyone know any interviews with them or others talking about the writing of the album anyhow? I know I've read a bunch all over the show, but thought I'd see if anyone knows any particularly cool ones that come to mind.

I have a copy of that and the sound quality is atrocious. Its hard to hear so you need to turn the volume up and then there is this popping that can blow out your eardrums and/or your speakers if you're not careful.
Too bad too, because it's actually a pretty entertaining/hilarious interview as far as what they talk about.

I don't know if it is a remaster or not, but there is a rumored 30th anniversary vinyl reissue. I purchased one on pre-order at soundstagedirect. I have no further info other than searching the catalog number (https://www.google.com/#q=060254782075).

I have the Def Jam remastered LTI and as far as I can tell, there isn't any difference in sound quality. I'm not a professional or even an amateur at stuff like this, but it seems like Def Jam just re-pressed some vinyl copies of LTI, but didn't actually do anything to it. I bought it just to own LTI on vinyl.
