Beastie Boys playing in a hotel lobby

A couple of years ago i read an article on the internet that the Beastie Boys played in a hotel lobby during (i think) was on election day. The article said the played instrumental songs, the article also mentioned they played Benny and the Jets. It should be around "The Mix Up" era.

I tried to look up the artice on google but can't find it back.

Does anybody know something about this performance?

all i got is that I *think* they were in Denver on election day 08 for the rock the vote tour

Im sure it was not the rock to vote tour.

Maybe i'm wrong about the election day thing. The write of the article mentioned he saw the beastie boys play benny and the jets when he was at some sort of party, im sure it was some sort of political gethering.

Was it the corporate thing? I remember they did a private gig for some company or something around that time. Some people made a stink about it, but I never saw it as a big deal.

They did play Denver for the Rock the Vote tour on the night before Obama got elected (the first time), it was at the last time I got see them live.

It could be around that day, maybe they did the hotel lobby thing the day when Obama got elected.
