Back in 2009-2010, I obsessed with this album dropping. I looked it up almost everyday. I made an ep titled Hot Sauce Drops with the few tracks that had dropped over time. I was so obsessed. I was so happy when the album was finally announced and released in 2011. It felt surreal. It was the first time in my life that an album that I had awaited was being released. Back when TT5B was released, I was only like 10, and I didn't have the cd or even a cd player to play it. I didn't even know much of the album other than the few tracks my brother ripped to our Xbox.

I am so glad this album happened. Some people say shit like it sounds like they went back to old sounds, instead of moving forward. I don't agree. I think this album did a lot of things they have not done until this point. This album is genuinely one of my favorite albums of 2011, if not my very favorite. I know I used to bag on anything that isn't beastie boys, but I don't think that ignorantly anymore.

It sucks that it's all over, but the Beasties will always be appreciated. They have done a lot for hip hop and I will never forget them or stop appreciating. Beastie boys made me love music the way I do. Back when I was 14-16, they were all I thought and cared about. I spent a lot of time alone and depressed. Their music was all I had. I never had such an obsession before. They were the first band/rappers I ever cared about in my life. Ever since I was a small child. Something just clicked with them. There was something so special about their music and vibe. It wasn't until later that I actually had the means to listen to their albums from start to finish, when I finally had a decent mp3 player(a Zune 30 lol).

Beastie boys made me truly fall in love with music and eventually embrace all forms of audio that can give me those feelings. I will never forget about these three men and those they worked with who inspired me in almost every way. I would be a completely different person if it weren't for these guys.

Thank you guys, for everything. You will always be some of the most important/influential artists in hip hop music and the most important to me. Hot Sauce Committee was and IS still the shit.

The link is the version of the song I listen(ed) to the most so naturally it grew on me more than the album version. When I first heard this song, I got chills. Not simply because it was a new Beastie song, but because it has a special vibe that I have never heard in any of their songs. One of my top five ever since.

Farewell, my friends. You will never be forgotten. Well, not until The Universe comes to a close and all life in existence ceases to exist.

Pop pop.

Yep well said. They are the first band I ever called my favourite band, and they are still my favorite band. I've been like you were for the hot sauce album to come out for nearly all of their albums (I'm a lot older than you, 11 when licence to ill came out)
I grew up loving so much different music and I know beastie boys are a major reason why. Another one of my favorite bands is called The Pogues. When I started getting into them I actually saw a picture of Adrock wearing a Pogues shirt and I freaked out. I remember thinking this is the coolest rapper to ever live hahaha.
