Ari-Matti

Hi there!
I think most of you don't know me, because I haven't really posted on these boards for many years. I still check the threads daily, though. Back in the day I had a site called "Ari-Matti's Beastie Boys Trading Place" and jointly with minton's "Beastie Boys A/V Centre" we provided monthly two Beastie Boys videos available for download. Remember, this was before youtube and everything.
Back then I compiled a pretty comprehensive Beastie Boys collection. I add a piece or two to it occasionally, but nowadays I have so many interests in music and film that I can't concentrate exclusively on only one artist. And what contributes to it is that I live on a pretty minimal income.
Anyway, Beastie Boys is still my favorite artist, but more and more on a musical and artistic level. And now to my point...
We have an album out! Well, actually it was released on the 19th of September and it's called "Now You Know" and we're the Limericks. The album was partly named that, because the material on the album has been worked on between the years 2001 and 2013. But don't make a mistake and think it's a compilation of old and new songs. All along we have been creating stuff for one coherent project.
You can check the album promo video here: http://youtu.be/k30r2MlKLis
and listen to the song "The Prophecy" here: http://soundcloud.com/limericksmusic/theprophecy
The music doesn't try to mimic Beastie Boys, because we have our own strong musical identity. Well, yeah we have hip-hop joints followed by hardcore songs and there are live instruments blended with samples, scratches and so on. But rather the music is highly influenced by their artistic philosophy. How the material sounds sonically and how it is possible to create an album with many different styles and still the listener perceives it as a pleasantly flowing continuous whole rather than a mixed bag of unrelated songs. Of course there is also the D-I-Y mentality and a yearning to create something no-one has ever done (the innovative spirit of hip-hop).
One thing I'm pretty confident to say no-one has ever done is our video for the song "Deeper Thoughts From The Horse's Mouth". The video was shot in 2004 and in 2013. But you can clearly see that we are continuously lip-syncing – going back and forth nine years. I can say this crazy idea is in the same vein as those of Yauch. Although this is something quite extraordinary, we manage to maintain the homemade D-I-Y quality and a mellow vibe, and the result doesn't feel pretentious or highbrow. You can watch the video here: http://youtu.be/IIZ3DlzWVhk
As fellow Beastie Boys fans you probably have a versatile taste in music and look out for new musical experiences. That's why I thought you'd appreciate me posting this here. One of the main reasons (on my behalf), why I created this album, is that this is music I want to hear. No-one was making it (not quite like this), so I had to do it myself. I'm not saying there are no good new music (there are many great artists in different genres), but I can't say I widely enjoy the current state of hip-hop either. I think there may be some people here that share my sentiments.
So, if you are interested in hearing more (you don't get the whole picture from these samples), you can order the album
