i dont think they will ever make a personal statement saying the beastie boys are done, retired, whatev. I think they hope that the fans will automatically assume so since Yauch. Point is, it is not mike and adams style to continue something that involved someone who is now gone.

I assume the book will be the final chapter of the Beasties. (pun not intended)

In my heart their music and legacy will continue forever but the band is no more.

after The King passes D sells the rights to 'Beastie Boys' to Disney for 4 Billion. Tamera is placed in charge of the franchise, the Jewish Brad Pitt retires and the 'The Right to Party Awakens'.

Thanks for posting this. Nice to see mike smiling. Also being humble and not thinking his band is as great as the clash. Which of course it is.

the end will come when no one enjoys the Beastie Boys' music.

Thats my take on it, and seems that wont happen till me and my girls are long gone.

FYI, I still enjoy the Beatles on occasion.

Great way to look at it. Changes my perspective.

The beasties have to be one of the greatest groups. They have managed to stay together for at least 30 years, inspired countless other musicians, crossed over genres, picking up new fans as they went along, had much influence in many political movements. Who is better than them?
