Yeah. Ranald looks like my brother. Alot. I don't have any photos, so, just believe in me!

If you make something nice tonight, make sure you take pictures! I'm, so glad my thread is back. It's the most popular thread I ever made :<

It makes me want to bump other old picture threads...

Shit.

There's also some pepper in there. And you can see the cheese on top. I feel sick. Hopefully I wont start sweating strange odurs.

I was going to put onions or some other vegetable in, but I only had sliced beetroot. Maybe next time.

i gotta be honest with you, pres (to be said in "i gotta be honest with you.. that smells like pure gasoline!" style ala will ferrell in anchorman), i hope that tasted better than it looks!

Re: What's for TEA?

It tasted awful.

I just wanted to out-curry aiden, really.

na§tee 12-15-2006 07:31 AM

yeah, i mean.. curried mince. hmm. a big plate of curried mince with cheese. i could think of better things to do with mince. you eat a lot of pasta, right? you coulda just shoved some chopped tomatoes/tomato puree in there, onions and mushrooms and made spaghetti! don't ever try to make this dish again! you need to do your thread justice!

i think i'm going to up the meat factor and make this at the weekend if my boyfriend successfully makes the weather super bad up north thus cancelling the football match he has to work at and drives down. it's the least he can do!

ok. :( I wont.

I'm not a very good cook, though. Not like nigella or milleson.

PS: those sausages look like turds. Nice, big, tasty turds.

na§tee 12-15-2006 07:56 AM

you don't have to be a good cook, you just have to do justice to good ingredients. and sickly pale mince is not where it's at. you know, i worry about you pres. i think you look pale. you need a good roast dinner or something. we can't have you fading away in front of the wii. we need you to grow up to be a big, strong boy!

some of milleson's stuff looked like albino mince, too, but sshhhh don't tell HER!
the turds look great! i do love sausages. ranald says it's not "technically a pie" so i can't make it. pies, apparently, need pastry. bugger.

Re: What's for TEA?

okay mum. Thanks for embarrassing me in front of my friends.

I am one of the skinniest wasting away people I know, but it's not from lack of food. Trust me. I can eat 30 dim sims in under an hour.

EDIT: milleson is a girl

na§tee 12-15-2006 08:08 AM

i did a LOL because being mumsy is funny. i wasn't really giving you a lecture.

don't worry, i honestly don't care what you feed yourself. go on eating the pale mince. i was just joshing. i don't really think you're pale or malnourished either. i'm the whitest white person i know. total ice-queen shit up in here.

Pres Zount 12-15-2006 08:10 AM

Re: What's for TEA?

oh, don't worry, I'm not offended. I do look malnourished.

I don't want to eat pale mince anymore. It really was bad stuff.

na§tee 12-15-2006 08:13 AM

it may be my slight hangover but i'm totally LOLing at the thought of you, head bowed in shame, shuffling your feet going "i don't want to eat pale mince anymore".

okay, i'll shut up now. this is a picture thread after all. but you're the only person actively online when i'm at work yo!

Nice Zelda pic. Makes it look tasty. ooh! You have a bigger shield!

chick pea & mushroom curry

well, of course i would talk to you regardless, even if there was a veritable army of people online because you're a  dude, yah fanny.

oi, the food was nice! and my shield is fire-proof :o

today i made chick pea and mushroom curry because ranald didn't end up being able to come and thought i would make a meal out of two of his least favourite ingredients just for the craic.

the ingredients:

the final result with naan, rice and home-made raita. i lovelovelovelove this meal! and it will last the whole of the weekend (and taste better, too, tomorrow!) made it a bit more liquidy than what they normally serve at restaurants cos i like it that way:

na§tee 12-24-2006 10:15 AM

y'all know we just have to do a festive edition what's for tea, dontcha? i know i'm doing one on christmas day! god. what is it with me photographing my food? anyhow.

okay. we went to bath yesterday and as you may know that is near where they make DA CADBURY'S CHOCOLATE. so we went to the cadbury's cocoa house and my brother had this pimpin' chocolate fondue. i thought it needed a what's for tea? entry.

also, bath is famous for its sausages so i made bangers and mash for tea for everyone! a bath sausage with smoked ham, mustard, ale etc, umm another venison and cranberry sausage, and a chef's special christmas sausage with, like, um, christmas stuff and port and.. whatever.

mash! (well, potatoes, but i did mash them and add mmm MUSTARD to em afterwards)

bangers!

the finished product. man, a lot of sausages! OH WELL!

na§tee 12-25-2006 01:17 PM

WHAT'S FOR TEA CHRISTMAS DINNER EDITION

OMG I LAUGHED SO HARD - her face! my mum, btw. she looks absolutely delighted to have her hand up our (muslim-friendly!) turkey. i was going to do a caption competition but oh well. if you can think of better, please share! we have a halal turkey cos the m0mz boyfriend is muslim, but he's not even here cos he gets paid big bucks to do teh doctoring abroad over christmas. oh well!

teh brother and the butter/thyme/lemons etc to stuff under that turkey breast my mother was molesting.

okay, those were the night before and i sorta spent all day drinking and watching tv so here's my only fresh vegetable shot of carrots in orange juice! CRAZY!

the finished result. i was like mum, are you trying to kill us all? in time honoured tradition we all left a third and finished a meal which took 7 hours to prepare in 25 minutes. yo yo!

b-grrrlie 12-25-2006 05:11 PM

Re: What's for TEA?

I didn't make any Chrismas dinner (or lunch or anything...), but I did want to make something special for me anyways. I found my really really old recipy collection and found this broccoli/carrot paté recipy so I thought I'll give it a try.

Boil carrots until soft, mix with eggs, some creme fraiche (something like double cream?) and some salt, drain and when cooled, make into puré. Boil broccoli and some leek but not too soft, drain, add eggs, creme fraiche, salt, black pepper and some grounded nutmeg, make into puré.

Take a ovenform (or whatever you call it), line it with clingy plastic and brush with oil. Scoop half the broccoli stuff in the form, then the carrot stuff and then the rest of broccoli.

Put tinfoil over, bake in waterbath for 1 hour, 170° C.

The result was a bit dissappointing, it wasn't as solid as it was supposed to be, and the taste was very bland. In the olden days they hadn't heard of herbs and it would've been much better without nutmeg.

I've done similar with broccoli, carrots and cauliflower, looks like an Irish flag :D and it tasted much better. I really should dig that recipy from somewhere...
