Book pages 513 and 518

AH states that the hard drive for HSC part one was left on a boxcar in a small maroon and purple duffel bag with gray piping on the sides, somewhere outside Missoula, Montana.
Is this a joke, l just can't tell?

Pretty sure it's a joke. SDIG (so dumb it's good -- or whatever the acronym was. Don't have the book in front of me right now.)

Despite what the book says, they clearly for real, had a different version of part 1 ready to go before Yauch got sick, and before they brought in Zdar. I'm not convinced they ever actually had a "part 2" recorded or even planned. I think they just saw an opportunity to remix part 1 and thought it would be funny to fuck with us, so they changed the name to Part 2.

That makes sense, but l read they did a song with bob dylan that was supposed to be on HSC part one and that time period was a real "purple patch" for them where they made lots of album worthy songs.

I mean I have no more official knowledge about this than anybody. But I thought I remembered that they said they sampled Dylan from his radio show when he did an on-air intro to a Bboys song.

They probably did record enough material to make 2 albums. We'll either never know, or one day we will.

haha, ive been waiting for someone to ask this. i couldnt tell either, but feared comin off like a herb if it was otherwise obvious.

undoubtedly a bone-dry ruse. the matter of factness of his delivery is masterful though

Wow, I forgot about that! Also of course there are 2 mixes of both Too Many Rappers and Lee Majors, one being the original mix. In addition, it's likely B Boys In The Cut was supposed to be on HSCP1 as they use a snippet of it on HSCP2. I vaguely recall hearing an early mix of Pop Your Balloon but maybe it was just the version featured on that NBA Playstation game. Also, the version of Here's A Little Something For Ya featured on DJ Hero has alternative (early?) lyrics.

Did anyone ever hear a full leak of the original HSCP1 tracks? I recall someone saying it's "out there" but I've never been able to find it.

Yeah, there was definitely a part 1, with a slightly different track list and a few different songs. I just wonder if there was ever "actually" a part 2, or did they just say that to fuck with us in the first place? then when they realized they had the (shitty) opportunity to hold back on releasing it, were they just like "fuck it. We'll remix and re sequence this shit and call this one "part 2" and really play a game that only we can win.", with everybody?

For my money, I think Pop Your Balloon is one of the best tracks they ever made, and I can't believe they didn't put it on the final version.

Why do you dance Mike?/ I'm built for speed like a tour de France Bike!

A huge part of me wants to hear (and wants to believe it truly exists) what would have been "part 2" come out as "part 1", but I'm fine w/ Part 2 being their last album. If that's what it has to be.

re-playing Pop Your Balloon right now, and I forgot that somewhere in the book they tell the story of Yauch throwing a smoke bomb into a radio booth, which he raps about on this track.

Re: Book pages 513 and 518

Is it possible that they intended to create actual songs for all of the fake samples they referenced in they mentioned on the album proper them release them in the "the less traditional means" Ad Rock referred to around that time. That would be a fun original Beastie like thing to do. It seems like they invested quite a bit of time putting the fake samples together, and mention in the book that they actually did record one of the fake songs. There is also artwork for the fake songs in the book. Wouldn't that have been bad ass?

I'm hoping they release those fake songs.
