MMM-era live bootlegs

So, w/ the Beasties doing press for Beastie Boys Story, I had an itch for some live music.

I turned to Awesome, I Fuckin' Shot That and was kinda floored by Mixmaster Mike chopping the different beats in the songs all over again. The In The Round tour was night and day different from Lolla' 94.

Are there any great MMM-era boots y'all wanna link here? When imports and bootlegs were still a thing, I had Turning Japanese and Rabid and all the regulars, but I was out of that loop a little bit and Glasgow was short show and that Germany festival show was not a great B-Boys concert performance.

All the European promo shows they did for TT5B, while short, were extremely good.

Sydney 99 was a bootleg I had on CD and used to listen to all the time. I didn't see the accompanying video pop up on youtube until recently:

MMM's intro should at least scratch your itch.

The $2 bill concert is always fun

For me, Glasgow 99 is still the gold standard. I would still love to see the colour version of the full concert.

I think they’re my favourite recorded shows by the boys full stop. I get that the In The Round tour is a valid peak for many, but those Euro promo 04 shows are somehow both precise and relaxed. I prefer MMM’s input at that time too. Also, like the Hiro link above demonstrates (albeit from 06), there’s something electric about seeing them in such small places. The energy and intimacy is just exceptional, and they’d been away for a long time.

Appreciate the input. MMM scratching the f'n falcon screech from Beastmaster into a Beastie Boys song will always be an unmatched level of meta. He's awesome.

Stay well, my friends.

Not a full show, but I think the Hip-Hop Honors performance is one of the best TV performances they ever did. In 2006 I think? I remember there being a contrast between some other inductees that maybe hadn't touched the mic for 15-20 years, having these guys that have been recording and touring consistently since the 80s put on a masterclass performance.

Even the tribute performance... it's not so bad (I've grown to like it), but it doesn't really compare to the real deal.
