in other "characters from the wire" news, i've been watching The Corner (also by david simon, also about west baltimore ghetto life) and it's a good show (not nearly as good as the wire but really, what is?) but it's really surreal because a lot of the actors from the wire make appearances and i'm having a hard time coping. lester freamon is a junkie/dealer, lieutenant daniels is a junkie, his wife's a junkie, and perhaps most unacceptably of all, detective sydnor plays a high-school aged drug dealer. i'm so used to seeing him as a 20 or 30-something street detective, i just cannot buy him as a teenager. too weird.
