They did a pretty good job around NYC mentioning him on the day of his death.

Got mentions at the Knicks and Mets games, on SNL, and most news reports on TV mentioned him.

Sadly, there really isn't any good Alt Rock/Modern rock radio stations here in NYC, but they did make a mention on Q104 (Classic Rock) and even played Fight For Your Right in tribute.
