It's one of those genres (like hip-hop) that started off underground where only people that loved the music made it, there was nothing to be gained financially by
producing it, and as a result
most of
it was
good.
It has now become one of those genres (like hip-hop) where the people making it have no knowledge of the essence or roots of the music and have diluted and/or twisted its perception and stylistic expression to an obnoxious degree in the pursuit of money. I can't even stand listening to it anymore, unfortunately, despite having some great memories of early dubstep raves in South London & Bristol.
