There are some that, yes, it is a bit hard to feel sorry for. But what about a woman who contracts HIV after her husband cheats? What about innocent children? What about those uneducated due to abstinace only teachings? Young people who have no other choice but to sell their bodies for food? Hmm? And how about good old fashioned compassion towards your fellow humans?
You answered your own question about the lack of compassion towards people with herpes. It's non-fatal.
