i mean they're not irish in teh sense of having the same characteristics of irish living in ireland. they have been americanized while still retaining their irish accents(and i don't mean their voices). but people of different nationalities are still strikingly different from other nationalities.
people of certain nationalities still tend to congregate in their own neighborhoods and even whole towns. there's towns around here that are mostly polish or portugese or jewish, and so on. there's strong differences between these people and towns.
those characteristics are not gonna be fully lost in the course of only a 100 years
