most def. wasnt suggesting bboys were the first or only, however I dont think their blatancy of style juxtapositions is oft equaled in popular music either. while groups like the clash or zeppelin might blend alot together over the course of an album, their records as a whole are still readily recognizable as "rock" records. introducing elements from other genres into a rock "stock", if you will. whereas an album like CYH or IC will pivot from pure punk, to pure hip-hop, to pure funk, etc., thus making it truly impossible to assign to a specific format.
