If you qualify for the tax subsidy in CA, you MUST send in your original passport or original birth certificate to get it officially. Why in the world would anyone send in an original document to some random on the other end when they don't even have the payment options set up for people who register? No thank you - not sending in anything that could allow my identity to be stolen - and crazy that a SS# isn't enough for this.
