Default To pre-order or not to pre-order?

I really want to pre-order the book and t-shirt combo: https://kingsroadmerch.com/beastie-boys/

but.... I'm having flashbacks to the Hot Sauce Committee Pt.2 pre-order fiasco where I had to wait months before actually getting my vinyl when I could have just bought it at the store on the release date.

If I pre-order the book (especially since I'm outside the US) am I going to be waiting months to read this thing and kicking myself for not just going to the store?

Is there anyway they can guarantee that it will come in on time?
Even if they can't guarantee the orders coming in on time, can we get a digital copy so we can at least read it while waiting for the hard copy, similar to HSCP2?

Why bother? I don't expect it will fly off shelves.

True. I guess I'm getting caught up in the hype and in my warped perception think it is more exclusive with the pre-order even though it's not.

I think pre-ordering is a reasonable measure of your support for the band, and anybody doing so might be applying that lens. But the HSC fiasco looms large in my mind, too.

Buying the thing in the first place is how I will support them, but pre-orders are just a desire trigger in my view.

I had the same thoughts/feelings but I pre-ordered any way. I just super hyped and had to do it. I mean how many more times are they going to release anything? I gotta treat each one with over excitement.

Great point. It is a release, and we should get hype.

I want the experience of going to the store to buy the thing and to see all of the promo materials for our newly crowned authors.

Was it Kingsroad or Topspin that was a debacle, or was it both? (Or are they one and the same?)

Long Burn The Fire. Rest In Peace Adam.

Yeah I’m going to go to the store as well just to see that stuff. I’m wondering if their going to do a press tour. Like on late night shows and such.

Topspin was the problem. Topspin was always the problem for me, not just with HSCP1. The company was absolutely horrible to deal with.

I am holding out, only because I fear there will be some sort of package deal or bonuses from certain retailers once we get closer.

Keep it on
